The way she sings is a traditional Japanese method. She made a video explaining, in non-technical terms, how it works.

Japanese is not a tonal language. It uses pitch accents, rather than dynamic accents, but it is not tonal (cf Chinese languages).

Amy Lee is just a guest performer and in no way essential to the performance. Also They usually don't use orchestra. Saves a lot of bucks too.

From my understanding, Amy Lee loves the band and initiate the collaboration, they had a collab recorded song Sakura Rising, they also performed an unique version of Bring me to life at the same concert

You have to go back and watch their rendition of Bring Me to Life with Amy Lee from the same concert. It's the best version you'll ever hear.

Historically, Senbonzakura is their concert closing song. They leave the audience uplifted to the roof!

This is from WagakkiBand Premium Symphonic Night Vol.2 Live & Orchestra in Osaka-Jo Hall February 2020. One nigh show only. The acoustics in Osaka-Jo Hall are very suitable for orchestras, so they held the concert there even though the WGB is in Tokyo.

If you're curious about the lead singer's vocal technique, she's using a style of singing called Enka, which is traditional Japanese singing. It features flipping often between notes very quickly and sharply, and can sound like autotune messing with pitch when singers go fast enough! 🙂
