First: THIS IS NOT A PAID SPONSORSHIP! I have not been financially compensated for this gadget review. These are my unbias and unfiltered thoughts and opinions on this product! My goal as always remains to provide transparent and trustworthy information to our viewers!
I don't do many gadget/accessory reviews like this. But as an avid pet owners and regular RV'er myself this product really spoke to me. I wanted to see if it really lived up to all of the hype and marketing that I read online.
And I will say.. I'm a fan! If I were a person who camped regularly with pets, then this is definitely something that I'd consider among my RV's accessories.
The setup was fast and easy taking only minutes thru the free app. Activation was extremely quick & I was in business almost immediately.
Initially I felt almost overwhelmed with the app, but then I realized 99% of what I need and want from the app is available thru the "Safety" tab at the bottom of the screen only a tap away. Here I was able to monitor the temperature and humidity in the RV where I placed the Waggle device.
Searching thru the settings menu I was able to very simply identify the notifications options, choose those that best fit my needs, and basically just forget about the device. After only maybe 5 minutes I had registered the device, selected a service plan, picked my notifications, and went back about my day.
I placed Waggle into an RV on our grounds at Haylett RV. It was a warm day around 80-90 degrees. Very quickly I began to receive alerts indicting the temperature in the RV was unsafe for a pet. And since I did not have the device plugged in & just operating on its internal battery I was also receiving notifications that "power had been lost" in the RV.
It was simple. It was working. Awesome!
I then dropped it in my car real quick. The temperature in my vehicle was much higher than in the RV. Upon the app's next update I once again received notifications of the updated higher temperature and "power lost" (since it wasn't plugged in still).
That got me thinking... this could be something that doesn't HAVE to be plugged in. You could simply disable the "power lost" notification while maintaining the "High/Low Temp" notifications for times when you need to do something like step into a store for just a few minutes while leaving your pet in the vehicle.
Again, I'm not paid to say or share any of this and I plan to hand this Waggle device to a customer here at Haylett RV with a pet as a gift. I have no "skin in this game." I think it's just a neat device & like most folks I see my pets as members of my family. So we're calling it #NerdPreferred!

I'll see what I can do. As I've done a few of these I've had suppliers seeking "influencer sponsorships" left and right I'm going to continue to be picky and choosey about what we cover I also require anyone who sends me something to review to acknowledge I will provide whatever unbias commentary I feel is appropriate as a condition to my review

Josh, your video was good, I would enjoy more product review videos. I think a WiFi linked weather station with programmable hi & lo alerts is a viable alternative. I plan on adding the temp. programmable Maxxair fan as a little extra measure of safety.

We have had our Waggle for almost a year (called Nimble back then) and it is a good product but it needs to be used with caution. We have been active in dog sports for 19 years and also performing Frisbee shows at fairs, festivals, and sporting events. We travel with 4-6 dogs. If it is very hot out and the AC goes out in your RV you need to be nearby, like 15 minutes, or have dependable people you can call to open up the windows for you. We have had issues with being able to get a reliable cell signal in several places and the Waggle might not report in as often as it should. The latest was in Mackinaw City, MI. We were being tourists and wandering the city and having lunch and our dogs were kenneled in our van which was running with the AC on in a shady spot. We use a remote starter so we can leave it running without the keys in the ignition. We made it a point to check on them every 15 minutes despite the Waggle being in operation. If we were at a summertime fair and went to stroll the fair for an hour we would turn off the AC and open all the windows. We have also had issues with cell service in campgrounds mainly due to a weak cell signal and too many people trying to access the system (tower congestion). A Waggle is just a part of your dog safety plan. You have to be careful where you locate the sensor in your RV or vehicle to get accurate readings. I know a couple of people in the dog entertainment business that actually pit two Waggles in their vehicles.

The very often overlooked part of all of these devices that advise you of the temp in the trailer is if you are going on a hike or something you could be 2 hours away from the RV and even if you get a notice by the time you get there the RV can be a hot box. It is better to try and find out if the park or at least someone else will be at the park while you are gone that you could give your door code to over the phone or something if you are in the Texas RV roasters park or similar cooking in the hot sun somewhere.

Thanks Josh! I respect that about you. 😌 I always worry about the people that leave there pets in there converted vans? 🥵 I don’t care how insulted they claim that it is!!!!! It’s still a vehicle!!!! And a van is closer to a car!🚗 It’s definitely a slippery slope for pet owners that live in their vehicles. As humans get caught up in the whole fairytale of living free and living tiny and living on the road but fail to realize what that actually means for their loving loyal pets when they take them out of their sticks and bricks and put them in a smoldering hot sauna every day it’s really not fair.🤷‍♀️

I go to dog shows with my dogs who are like family members. My top priority is my dog's health. In my car they are crated, they have fans blowing on them, the windows are tinted (fairly dark to keep people from seeing the dogs) and I monitor the temps. My boy Chip loves going on car rides and he loves camping because in his mind something fun is going to happen. We are either going to class, going to the vets where he sees his friends or going on an adventure. Maybe you should try speaking with people that take their pets along in the converted vans and find out the reason because it could be that they are actively participating in dog sports like I do and their dogs love the adventures way more than sitting around a house all day doing nothing.

Awe didn’t mean to step on your paws 🐾 Here’s the thing- if trips aren’t completely planned out around including your 4 legged friends to tag along. Well then they just shouldn’t be going? No matter how disappointed You and BoBo might be. Or? Better yet? Maybe hire have someone to sit in the car with your dog while your out and about. No biggie? right? After all, you posted that your very kind to your pet by paying extra for tinted windows and even bought a fan to put in the car as well. Right? So if you spent all that extra money? Then why not hire a person to sit in the car with your dog too. They won’t look weird sitting in the car for 2-3 hours. Because you posted that your windows are all tinted? I’m sure that a dog sitter will also enjoy having that tiny little worthless fan of yours blowing hot air into there face for hours. Probably indirectly giving off more heat from its little motor running in an already rising high temperature vehicle . 🥵 After all who wouldn’t enjoy having a HOT BLOW DRYER on a low heat setting just Blowing hot air on your face for 2 hours straight on a hot summers day.😓 Ahhhhhhhh soooo refreshing!🥶 In the mean time here’s some FUN FACTS to contemplate while your planning your next dog show trip- 🐩 🐕 🐶 Because most Responsible pet owners like yourself 👍 well they already know all these quirky little fun facts about there beloved pets. Fun Fact #1 👉 Out of all of our domesticated fun loving pets out there, and especially DOGS 🐶 are well known to NOT to be able to SWEAT like us humans sweat. Meaning it’s harder for them to cool themselves down like us. 👉Fun Fact 2 Dogs NATURALLY will run warmer then most domesticated pets or humans. Which is why when we are freezing in the winter time ⛄️ even though us humans are wearing a hat scarf and gloves. Have you ever noticed that your dog isn’t cold even though we’re all bundled up. Or while sitting in the sofa our dogs make excellent foot warmers for our cold toes. Because their undercarriage is always significantly warmer than us??? This is because they are unable to release body heat like us humans. There little engines run hotter naturally. And they hold on to that body heat. Even in the SUMMER time. Now you mention that your dog is in a crate while your watching the dog show. Which brings me to… Fun Fact #3 👉 Dogs sweat from a few locations. Most common location is out of there PAWS 🐾 They will START to LICK and LICK 👅 To try and cool themselves down. Unlike there big brained pet owners they don’t realize that is not the best tactic to cool themselves down. Not only are they becoming more dehydrated from constantly licking there paws 🐾 now depending on the size of your crate?🤔 Might be kinda of awkward trying to move around to lick all four sweaty paws 🐾 Keep in mind, they are also using energy to try and lick themselves repeatedly to try and cool themselves down. Which indirectly adds to them over heating more. It’s easier for them to get more stressed out too from the heat. More stressed out then us humans. Fun Fact # 4- Brains turn into liquid 🧠 👉 They have found Dogs dead in vehicles only after of being left for 1 hour in a vehicle. What a sad state to find them in with Brain Matter liquified coming out of there nose and ears. Temp so out on the inside of your dog there brain 🧠 turn to liquid and runs outta of every opening. They’ve have found human babies with the same liquid coming out of there nose and ears. Also most humans babies have also been found with clumps of there own hair in there little hands from the pain of dying like that. So many pet owners see a temp gage and think that it’s perfectly safe for them And forgetting to add on fur and the other fun little facts I mentioned above. 72° might be fine for you but it would be actually be 82° for your dog? Fun Fact # 5 ⏰ Paying attention to the time! 👉⏰ if it takes you 20 mins or 2 hours to get back to your car? Then you shouldn’t of left them in the car if it’s going to take that long to get them outta of a vehicle. Parking in shade or at 3:00 🕒 in the afternoon is the hottest time of the day. All this needs to be considered before leaving them alone in a hot vehicle. Hope this helps Hope you enjoyed my fun fact and tip folks

I have two issues with waggle - this being said I still use a waggle - The first which is the most important is that this product only works if your cell phone has service! So if you are boondocking in the middle of nowhere and you don't have a signal you won't know what is going on with the RV. the second one is that the battery life is not as long as they advertised at least not on my unit. When I contacted support they told me just to keep it plugged in (kind of crappy support). I still use it and actually use it more in my car when I'm taking my dogs to shows or camping, it lets me know that the dogs in the crates are at a comfortable temperature.

Right -- That's why i mention the verizon service-aspect of it near the end of the video. It's not a WORLDWIDE solution necessarily. Get out in the sticks and you need to remember it might not function as you expect. TY for this feedback btw. I was wondering if anyone else out there had/used one
@kathleenjettlund7617

@@JoshtheRVNerd I really like the product, the gotcha in my opinion is a limitation with the cell phone signal because some of my local campgrounds don't have cell signals. It would be nice if there was an option so that it could back up to wifi so that if someone has star-link for instance they waggle will continue to work. But if you have star-link there are other devices you can use to monitor temps and having a backup is never a bad idea.

I'd love to have one, but as a full time RVer, and a novelist who's seen 60% of his income wiped out by covid, I simply can't afford $200, plus shipping, plus another $100 a year, and it won't work half the places I stay (just like my damn Verizon hotspot).

Another good one Josh. 👍 I travel with an English Mastiff (very low stress). She rides in the back seat and only gets excited when we go through the drive through, the ppl in the window always want to give her fries or chicken nuggets. I'll be checking into the waggles.

Pro tip turn off notifications when trailering your rv around. That thing will send you a notification every 10 or so mins letting you know power is out. Just got one this last month used it for camping and loved it. Like everything in life it’s not perfect but seems to be the best for me and my life.
@JoshtheRVNerd

@kathleenjettlund7617 3 года назад
@@JoshtheRVNerd The second half to this is your cell phone also needs to have service. There are a lot of places Verizon works but in my case t-mobile does not work so even though the alerts are being sent they aren't being received.

I have one and use it in the house and RV. The other day my wife left the patio door open near the Waggle and it was 99’, I started getting notified when it hit 90’. I called home to check. It works! The best part it has it’s on cell service.
