Wagle Ki Duniya (literally: 'Wagle's World') was a popular comedy sitcom on Indian television, aired for the first time in 1988 to 1990 on state-run Doordarshan channel. It was directed by Kundan Shah, and was based on characters created by noted cartoonist, R. K. Laxman, especially "the common man" about the issues of common middle-class Indian man.It starred Anjan Srivastav as a bumbling sales clerk in a multinational and Bharati Achrekar as his wife. The series was hit and made Anjan Srivastav a household name.

Wo ghar hamara ho tha tha back in 1980 having color tv at our home. People in the neighborhood would come tell my brother that our house had color tv. It was such a big deal. So innocent and now tv is normal.

Actually the character is any common man, but I see a lot of similarities between Anjan Shrivastava the Wagle and my Daddy, another WAGLE. . Both born in same year. Both were Bankers. Both had 2 kids. Both were humble human beings with moderate finances. . Most of the episodes in this serial have happened in reality in our lives and might so have happened in many people's lives because it is dipicted as common man and his experience. 😂😂😂

हम लोग भी किराए के घर में रहता था हमारे यहां टीवी नहीं था उस टाइम,मकान मालिक के घर जाके शक्तिमान अलादीन देखा करते थे,फिर हम लोगो ने ब्लैक एंड व्हाइट टीवी लिया ,उस टाइम पे सिर्फ 2 चैनल आते थे dd 1 और dd मेट्रो।।।।लाइफ बहुत अच्छी थी खुश थे

Born in 84 and I can relate to every little detail of this. I remember how fondly we used to keep reviewing heaps of pamphlets of radio/tv/stereo systems before buying for weeks. And how so often tv mechanics would be called out for repairs which used to take hours and in between we would offer rasna or some soft drinks to the mechanic guy. It was so easy to sneak to neighbours house to watch tv during cricket or football World Cup matches if your tv set is not working.

Mere mummy ke ghar me 1990 mein tv aa gaya tha . Usse pehle un logon ko doosron ke ghar jaa kar ramayan , mahabharat etc dekhna padta tha log Arun Gowil ko asli raam samajhkar tv par phool fekte the😂. Meri naani ne school mein padhane ke saath saath tution padha padha ke tv afford kar payin thi. Aaj bhi woh tv working condition mein hai par koi chalaye tab na , LED ke zamaane mein black and white tv kaun chalayega.

We had a Crown TV with doors and showcase til early 90s and then a Bush both were b&w and in 97 we got BPL color tv finally 😅 I think Japanese TV brands were not so popular in India but the Japanese cameras and music systems were very much. It's amazing how they captured the electronic product market worldwide inspite of the nuclear attack, they still grew so fast while India was so behind despite so much of talent and intelligence we have.

Mera daddy 80s main Colour T.v liya tha tab Mahabharat aur Ramayan series kali famous huya tha aur wo dakh Naka liya kafi log ghar pa aatha tha.Kya din tha woh.Aaj sabka pass TV aur Naya equipment hain but woh bhai chara nahi hain.

Problem of Excess always . Previously resources were limited , but Programmes were good, so excess people around a single TV, now resources are more, flooding a single household's drawing room can't even be imagined, programmes are flooded with substandard quality . Whatever may it be ,yet those days of land phones, Doordarshan seem so distant , mesmerizing & so much ' apnapan'.

Mere father ne TV 1989 me liya tha jo 15inc ka tha. Jab TV ane wala tha us raat muje nind bhi nahi aayi thi. Wo excitement aaj 50inc ka TV ane wala ho to bhi baccho mai nahi dikhti.

I could relate when the boys were excited to see those elephants on the TV screen in the showroom. Thought there was nothing much to see if compared to today's time, the children were thrilled to see the same picture again n again. How innocent was that time of our age. ❤

I remember when we bought beltek 😢😢 … My father was really generous enough to call Majdoors in our house .. and let them watch - Ramayan on that time .. and the next was - Texla - with 20 channels . 😢 I still miss those days and moreover who left me so early ,,,, my Papa . I recollect the same back in my childhood days. Only one owner of our apartment bought the first colour tv. Everyone went there to visit and watch serials or movie. I was the last one to visit. Everyone left before me and Uncle was too tired that day exhibiting his new asset. But he didn't refused to play the tv for me. I sat there for 5-7 minutes and came back. He never insisted me to leave or uttered any disgust. But In today's scenario I think I myself won't do the same for any neighbours kid.
