My observation over the last few years is that the Africans still hate the Western countries because of colonial times, especially France in francophone Africa but also the USA. So they turn to other countries like China and Russia, which treat them much worse, because they don't care about human rights but only their own interests. Of course, the Western colonial powers did very bad things to Africa. What I would like to understand is how much the West has really changed. I assume the West nowadays can be a better partner to Africa. But I am not sure especially about France. They have a bad reputation, and I would like to find out whether they really behave badly like in colonial times or it is just anti Western propaganda, possibly from Russia. Greetings from Germany.
Nothing has changed, other then now it is actla russians involved with the brush wars in africa, this has been going on for over 50 years, the difference being, that the soviet union, used to use the cubans for there cannon fodder, why the west is not finally taking advantage of, and letting Ukraine finish this mess that has been going on for over half a century is mind boggling.

In Europe there is more information. Especially because several countries in the Sahel Zone seem to prefer the Wagner group as opposed to the French military (colonial power). France is losing its influence.
