Most people do not know that the Wah Ching was originally a Soccer Club In SF Chinatown. I've been doing kung fu from Chinatown since i was 14. I have chinese characters on me that represent my kung fu family. my kung fu teacher is an original SF Wah Ching. I met many from his generation. Crazy MF's bro. not to be messed with.
Another thing MOST people DON'T know is that one of the WC members in SF was the son of a famous Chinese Martial Arts actors (Kwan Tak Hing) that Played the original Wong Fei Hung in the old Kung Fu movies.
Are you serious right now?! Been living my whole life as a Christian for the past 35 years & no sermon hit me harder than Johnny's testimony on this podcast... This is insane. All my questions I had growing up, this guy just answered it from his experience.
He’s right doesn’t matter what kind of Asian you are. At the end of the day a lot of us respected our elders highly. Strict parents and went through lots of poverty in the US. Always wanted to make our parents proud, some of us strayed from that path but we all know deep down as we got older we regretted our mistakes. We learn from our mistakes and make amends and we change our life to better us and those around us.
I just came from and watched the underbelly podcast with Johnny and had to hear this dude some more. A lot of his experiences and beliefs resonate with me and probably most people.
This guy is the type you gotta have back on the show man. Why only let him give a little bit when he’s got so much more to offer. Another banger lucky!
When Lucky said "I'm sorry you went through that" it hit different a tear jerker in my eyes because even though I didn't go through that, the war was real and it still is but to see these two sit with love and respect. All I can do is smile throughout this whole entire podcast. When they both touched on Asian hate together and both have each others back is priceless. Thank you Johnny and Lucky for showing us that peace, love, unity and respect is still strong because in this world now a days it sure is hard to find.🙏
johnny's a cool dude. love the part where the pastor told him to break bread w his dad, and they started the healing process. the programing of asian parenting creates alot of issues, i know from personal experience. it's just a cultural/generational gap that's hard to bridge... the love's there but it's expressed differently. dope to see the power of peace flowing through johnny and he's doing good work out there in the world now. keep it up, thanks for sharing.
Filipino here. I moved to El Monte CA in the 90s from the Philippines at age of 10. I'm from Tondo Manila, which at the time, is most dangerous neighborhood in Manila during the 90s, so I was used to gangs, fights and violence. It wasn't anything new to me. I grew up watching people have ice-pick fights across the street..... What I wasn't prepared for was the race thing. Literally, my first day in school, I was jumped by 3 middle school mexican kids just for being Asian and wearing a red shirt. I was used to fighting so I fought back. For the next 2 weeks, I got into 3 fights with them. By the third week of being in America, I was fed up and that's when I realized I had to join a gang to protect myself or else I will get picked on and bullied everyday... so I joined a local Filipino gang... Wah Ching actually tried to recruit me, but being new to America, I was much more comfortable being in a Filipino clique. THREE WEEKS of being in America.... that's how fast my life changed from the typical kid to being a gang member... all because of race.... But I want to be clear. I have no anger or hatred towards the Mexicans. None at all. I know they only did it because of the environment we were in.... unfortunately that was just the reality during the 90s. Majority of my friends now are Mexicans.
Same here. Filipino also growing up in Long Beach late 80's to late 2000's. This one Mexican gang (all Longos) were probably the biggest racists I know against Asians! They call us Nips all the time. Longos were the reason why all Asians got the Green Light back in the 90's. They were successful to have all Mexican gangs ride with them against us Asians except a few like the Maravilla gang, Barrio Pobre 13, 18st gang, etc. I remember when they dry snitched to big daddy when Asians started putting pressure on them after bullying Asians. I also remember then saying that all Asians are out to kill Mexicans (LIES! it was just beef in Long Beach). Today, I also have mostly Mexican friends. 90's generation was truly racists!
Damn this was a good MFing interview. Excuse my sinful language lol shot out to the homie from wah ching for giving a real and raw testimony and to Lucky for knockin this interview out the park the way he kept this conversation flowing. That was a fire ass 2+ hours. Watched it all the way thru and that says alot 🔥
I'm in recovery from getting shot Friday afternoon. Last night I was trying to listen to this in the hospital but the meds had me everywhere so had to wake up and come back and listen 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Real talk, this is the best podcast I’ve listened to when it came to interviewing a gang banger. No basic info, real talk from a real dude who lived it without glamorizing it, Shout-out to Johnny bro this was inspiring
Is it worth watching this interview for over 2 hours long? HELL YEAHHH!!! 💯💯💯 Salute to my Wah Ching brother who turned out to be positive person. 🙌🙌 I’d definitely subscribed to this channel Lucky for being real. ❤️❤️
This is my first episode from Hood Stocks. I am Korean-American and this episode humbles and educated myself. Thank you for the good energy and knowledge how to separate the men from boys. I “liked” the video and subscribe to the channel.
I grew up at the tale end of this era. Asian guys went from gangster to rock bands and skater shoes. The type of violence that happened in this era was 100x worse the the “racism” today.
Johnny, so encouraged and you are an amazing witness of Jesus Christ! Thank you so much for sharing this. Shout out to both of you spitting that truth! Let the world see, God LOVES gangsters, God LOVES all people and gave us all hope! 🙏🙏🙏
Gahdamnnnn, what a great episode, guest, and host!! The way you ask your questions and speak on topics is amazing🤯 The energy between you and johnny was there, everything flowed and loved all the topics/stories that was talked about. Gotta say it again, you are a certified host. This is the first podcast I've listened to from you, and it forsure won't be the last. Keep it up big dog🅿
I love this. I was in high school in the 90’s and the gang wars was crazy. Especially against Mexicans and Asians. Seeing this brings joy as you have 2 OG homies just chatting it up. Learning is growing. 👍🏼
This man Johnny is a beautiful human and all stories he was sharing were so truthful from heart, much respect. Great great content, well done lucky. Subbed, liked and clicked the bell straight up.
It’s almost midnight and I was able to finish my report for tomorrows presentation at work listening through this podcast . This shit deep Johnny . Thanks Lucky for hosting this man !
Mexicans and Asians must have the same kind of dignity because we don't put ourselves down 👇 that low by harming the old folks or children. Whites and blacks 😂 same boat.
As a asian man from a hood, I wanna give some love and respect to lucky, the brotha was respectful, asked the right questions to show love to our people and didn’t press the issue when the brotha Johnny knew he shouldn’t answer them. I thought this podcast was going to be lame tbh, but I listened to the whole thing cause there’s 2 real nigggas talking bout both our cultures struggles. We all immigrants, our parents on both sides worked the jobs that people already here was to proud to do. So lucky keep up the respect that you showing people brotha. Everyone be safe and respect one another. Show no love to those that are assaulting our elderly cause they cowards.
@@HoodStocks it’s evident you appreciate and genuinely wanna learn about different cultures. That’s mad respect my g. You a humble og. Keep spreading the positivity, you talking about the bads, but life ain’t perfect and everyone gatta survive. We do what we do for the ones we care about. Again my g keep up the good work and you coming from a good place so your channels going to blow up. I don’t ever sub to any channels but I will with yours. 🙏🏻
@dream I feel you.. all the savages got locked up and forgotten while all the squares took the leadership roles. Also the youngsters started having their own brains and decided why am I getting locked up for someone else? Asians always have to prove ourselves cause of our small stature, but we unite when we have to.
@dream What happen to some or many of those older 1st/2nd gen crazy ass, fully banged out Asians, is they either got life in the pinta, got killed, escaped the country, deported, changed their life or became a family man, they move different, too. We don't need more straight killers on the calles killing each other like it's 1992...
I think Asians and Mexicans have similar upbringing in the household. When I talk to my Mexican coworkers about how I grew up they always be saying "oh me too. Yea my parents too" 🤣 So you not alone. I think we similar too lol!!!
Pivotal moments.. are a message from a higher level. I still experience many. This episode answered alot of questions. Thank you Lucky and Mr. Johnny for this episode.
Johnny if you read this homie, much respect and love to you big dog. What a great story. Although I don't go to church, im a believer. I wish u a blessed life homie. Much love Gee👊
I enjoyed every minute of his story so inspiring. I felt his pain too. It’s so sad how this world is, so many young innocent kids get into gangs. But wow he opened my eyes to a lot of things. Much appreciated and much love!
First time tuning in, great show!. Grew up with predominantly Hispanic folks, coming from an Asian background, from my early childhood till now. In fact, I can relate more to Hispanic homies than most Asian cats. No regrets, I love all the brown brothas that has led me to my current. Why all this hatred in this world? Why the color division? Why the stereotypes? We all came from the same place called "Humanity." One race, one love.
I believe a lot of the hate comes from the pinta, some of them come out and teach their homies, primos, sobrinos, etc., their hatred, that and all the bloodshed on the streets leads to a lot of racial hate, at least that's how it is in Sur Califas... remember when Florencia and and I think Longos used to shoot and kill random Black people while yelling out racial slurs, some got indicted on some hate crimes while at it. Some Chicanos don't like paisas, and paisas don't like the pochos, all sorts of things. The hatred is taught and learned. Some vatos out there are really racist, it goes for all races and the gang banging makes it worse, it was pretty bad back then
This episode was dope. so much wisdom his words definitely touched my soul. much love to the brother Johnny and to all the Asian culture and to everyone..
In high school I was friends with an original wah ching member from hong kong by the name of hung he was 17 and was extremely respected and feared he was straight from hong kong and could barely speak broken english he was all tatted down and told me how he had to commit hits to get to come to the US truly a real gangster at heart
Lucky! Probably one of the BEST podcasts you've done so far! The homie Johnny was dropping some jewels! Appreciate you bringing him to the show. Would love to see more episodes like this. Keep up the good work my G!
Damn bro, I’ve never watched your channel before, but God touched me with his testimony, I’m subscribed as of today. Thanks for having him on, God Bless.
I'm not Asian, but I've always respected all the stories we can get from any and all backgrounds. . . Respect! With knowledge we learn we're not so different.... Also, I'm Mexican and I never fucked with anyone that didn't fuck with me 1st just know.
Bro I wish I could come on your show and tell a story about growing up by one of the border towns of the biggest native American reservation in the US located in northern AZ. The racism the hate crimes and how my generation single handedly got rid of it with some good ol violence. The good times the tight knit family, the 90s, the drugs the hustling, the bad times, my peers dying early or going to prison. And the few who made it out alive with their sanity still in tact
@@navajorezathlete1202 let me rephrase that brother. Because this topic is dear to. Me as a native indigenous / Spanish blood line= Mexican. Before border lines there were tribes that were divided in the southwest region. Where exactly do you fall in line? Do you consider yourself Mexican? There are native Americans that don’t see us Mexicans as equal as if they have superiority. Perfect topic in my opinion.
Where do we find Johnny? I’ve been trying to understand the Bible. When Johnny speaks, I understand. His words are so clear. I love you God. Thank you Johnny. HOW DO I FIND HIM?
All the Asian hoods around the world had the same struggle when we migrated. I have family in alot of countries and all had to group up and protected each other. The nemesis varied dependent upon locale. As long as you stood firm and put in work on them on sight, they learnt to respect you also. Years later, next immigrant group comes through and repeat the process.
Wow!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 @1:45 forward! Amen! Soo amazing!! We need to meet Johnny’s pastor and they both need their own podcast! Or do they already have one?? Please share! These are words of wisdom!! Gained soo much strength just by listening to this! Praise GOD!
I think Johnny is 100% a classic example of a true INFJ Sigma male. You only wanna be his friend not his enemy. You're a good man brother! I have a lot of respects to a man like you!
Respect to Johnny, I like how Asian homies don’t try to front or talk funny.. sounds like someone u can just relax and be yourself without judgment. But damn he missed out on the perks at 17, I’m just playin haha
Big time missed hes years.. im sure he had lost the v card before going in but damn thats gonna be alotta jckin off and stuff.. 😄 mans just had a bad luck but its good now i hope
Idk how this was recomended to me, but glad it did, liked and subbed. We Hmong have been in the states for 40+ years, I'm surprised we're still mainly not known. Respect guys, great podcast! Idk if Johnny's mic was low, or he's a soft speaker.
He said Won Kok lol. Deep fried pork chops! I've been eating there since 85. Yeah its been there a long time. If you watch that movie brother some of it was filmed right there in front of that place as well as other places in China Town. This was such a good ass episode. The unity is what we need . Proud of this video
Lucky always on some real shit respect 🫡 💯real recognize real this man johnny dropping gems 💎 listen up ⬆️ this coming from a northern Cali representative 🇲🇽 🇨🇳 uniting the people
One thing I don't like is he says he can answer that but I like is how the Asian dude says he can't , because both can but the smart one chooses not to
I’ve been tap in every type of podcast and to keep it 100 . You’re truly one the the best interviewer I came across and I just so happen to come across this . You gain a new subscriber.
Dude seems like a real stand up guy. I’m about the same age as Johnny n grew up in SGV. I’ve had homies that were associated, but I was never in that life. I’m glad u came out alive n healthy on the other side, wish u all the best in life homie.
I know people often criticize your interview style but to me thats the point this isn't no fuckin interview its just 2 homies choppen it up and breakin bread appreciate both u this one flew by!👍
Respect for dropping this podcast, glory to the most high, lord yeshua, great testimony Johnny and lucky keep doing you brother, your in soul has been replanted with the 🌱 you guys be safe and God bless
Lucky- a big thank you for having Johnny on the podcast, where most people may not be Christians, hopefully this changes life’s. Also, next time, please stop with the “GD”, it comes off disrespectful and immature when you’re interviewing a now minister. Just my opinion. I say that with love tho, maybe something you can think about in the future. God bless ❤
Johnny seems like a very nice dude. God bless him that he's still alive. it sucks that he had to go that route because of bullying so he had to protect him self and his people.
