Wai Kru is a ritual performed when a Muay Thai fighter enters the ring. The Taiwanese Cobra is a symbol of strength fear and respect a Cobra is also a symbol good luck but if it is cornered it can be a symbol of bad luck. May the Taiwanese cobra bring you good fortune and fame. The headband wrapped around a Muay Thai fighters head called a Monokan resembles a cobra ready to strike. You're Monokan and Parijuans are believed to hold magical powers that will protect you from evil and bring you good fortune and fame. There only supposed to be touched by you and your master otherwise they will lose there spritual power. There supposed to be removed by your Master after you have performed Wait Kru Ram than your Master will pray over you and the fight will begin. The braid's Parijun around the fighters arm resemble a Cobra coiled around the wearers arm it represents a symbol of protection. A long time ago depending on which color braids you wore it signified which tribe you belonged to. Nowadays they really don't have any meaning but they could resemble which school you represent or which team you're a part of during the competition. Muay Thai doesn't use a belt system like other arts. Each braid is supposed to be given to you by your master after you've proven yourself but nowadays you can buy them off Amazon or Ebay. Most of the history of Muay Thai has been lost through the course of time rumor has it some of the scrolls were burned by Tailands enemies. The Cobra is known as the Angle Snake or Queen Snake it's consider a blessing for the Cobra to warn them against evil. While others consider the Cobra a serpent of evil to be feared or destroyed .A ritual is preformed by drinking the Cobras blood. They believe it will ward off demon's and protect them against evil.
