I think it's completely okay to like/ love fictional characters (waifus included) because you admire them. But treating and interacting to them like real people is just absurd.

thats one of the reasons i was always afraid of anime. Even though people are "more tolerable" with anime, and also is being widespread, it kept the bad part and reason why people didn't watched it back then: the weaboos

I think a video I randomly came across “Why people like anime girls” or something like that explained the reasons why this would happen perfectly, still kinda weird even if I do have too many crushes from anime (although I am 16 so not as weird as a 26 year old plus it’s not limited to anime, and really that’s just being a teenager). Also by god I can kinda understand Megumin IF you’re going by the light novel (I believe she’s 19 currently) but shit like the existence of Shoujo Ramune make me really scared for the human species and people who actually get body pillows or anything similar of underage characters need a therapist. It's normal to like a character, it's normal to have a comfort character, but it's not normal to be obsessed with a certain character, to the point of basing your entire personality over it. And it can be said both about animated characters, book characters, or movie characters. It's just not healthy.

I used to watch anime years with my brother. He was the one that introduced me to it. Anime was not as crazy and weird like that back then. Looking at anime now is a completely whole new different ball game. And I guess this explains why my brother prohibited me from watching Ecchi anime.

People like this were the reason I didn’t get into anime for a long time, I thought every anime was garbage (despite never watching one) and everyone into it was like some of the people shown here. Then one day a friend encouraged me to watch one, I did, and liked it so I’ve kept watching. I wouldn’t say I’m ‘into’ it like some other people are, but I do enjoy watching them in my free time every now and then.

Even though i do fantisize me being with the well known character Rias Gremory, I'm not too serious about it.
