I agree, American Idiot is prob the closest in a literal sense. I’d say Next to Normal is also very punk sounding for a musical. And Hadestown is a kind of blues punk jazz mix. Really fantastic music and not what you’d “expect” from a tony award winning Broadway play. Bare the musical pop opera is also very close to punk for a musical, very dramatic very early 2000s angst haha.
The best part about this is that the song is incredible whether or not you are a fan of "Hamilton" or even musicals in general (coming from somebody that has watched very few musicals). Amazing job, Matt.
So Hamilton is one of the very few Broadway productions that I enjoy and this song just bangs as a punk cover damn good job and hey cyber you did a damn good job too
1st of all, I really like this, it's great.....Maybe it's the purist and my "old school" nature but this is not what I would call punk....it's something like screamo/punk/rock mix of some sort....but again I'm old and a purist who remembers punk when it was 2 guitars, 1 bass, one vocal and very fast loud drums!!
Omfg I did not know this was Hamilton XD I've been listening to this song all year and I just decided to look up the video XD welp no wonder everyone thinks I know Hamilton XD
