When they first announced _Lightyear_ as Buzz's first and definitive origin story, I was like, _"Hey, wait a second.."_

I have vivid memories of watching episodes of this show compiled on dvd, and of playing the game on Dreamcast. I loved “Mira Nova” and the fact that she went on to voice Shego, Supergirl, and Scorpia

Oh man! This video just gave me major whiplash. I hadn't realized hoe much my childhood brain was influenced by the designs in this show. I remember my default imagining of robots and space ships and space suits exactly like they were in this show, so it left a mark, clearly!

I remembered my great grandma had this on VHS and I would watch it over and over again

I remembered the Star Command TV show as its very nostalgic for me. It was on par with Ben 10 and 2003 Clone Wars for me. I did however, forget about the Star Command Game(s).

We all know why we’re here don’t we? I mean, Captain America is totally going to be Buzz.

this video merely being a topic makes me sad because I was actually really into this show for a while... I loved the characters and the world that had been built for Buzz and friends to inhabit.

Things from the vhs movie I'll never forget: Rex trying to put in a VHS tape Betrayal from pale dude who is oddly gay for Buzz Worm aliens LGM: if you break him, you can put him back together! Zurg: DID YOU REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PLUS IS IN LINE WITH THE PLUS SIGN AND THE MINUS SIGN IS IN LINE WITH THE MINUS SIGN?!?!? Bug alien:: oH tHaT wOuLd dO iT hUH? And there was an evil planet ray? And building on fire with sad LGM Things I remember from the show: That episode where Buzz gets shrunk and befriends bug aliens that Star Command want to exterminate. I remember he had to carve "help me" on a cake while mustache guy tried to smash him And didn't nova girl go on a joyride and booster get arrested? Also the episodes were excessively playing on tv like I kinda was over it but it was a good show so I was conflicted

Thank you for sharing! Toy Story is "that" movie to me, so knowing that, immediately after its fourth sequel comes a spin-off movie, I'm both intererested and terrified. I remember the day my dad brought home that cartoon VHS and since then Buzz Lightyear of Star Command has also been a staple. I am not optimistic that that cartoon series will be remembered so I'm a little nervous. Nostalgia blinders are definitely on with this one!!!

One lesser-known piece of trivia about the series is it references a bunch of other cult sci fi properties including Hitchiker's Guide to the galaxy, Commando Cody, Space Cadet, and Flash Gordon.

I was born in 2001 so I didn't actually see this on TV, but I did see this on DVD and I loved it!

Even I do have the DVD copy since I lost it, It's still a great animated film.

The CGI Green Lantern show got this concept down perfectly in my opinion

I remember this show regularly because it has one of the best Disney Princesses of all time in it. I think Mira Nova is only outclassed by Vanellope Von Schweets and Belle.

Holy shit I remember loving that show as a kid. I was always a huge fan of Toy Story and absolutely love space shows (See my obsession with Star Wars) but unfortunately being born in '99 it wasn't on hardly at all when I actually was old enough to remember much of it. Why do I remember the animation of Booster mopping so much, though? Like seeing the clip you showed was a fucking vivid memory of just the little detail of the water on the floor.... man kids remember the weirdest shit.

Well, it could reference the show in some capacity. For one thing the trailer gave us Zurg bots that look very similar to the ones in the Buzz Lightyear game Rex played in Toy Story 2. And they showed us the "Crystalized Fusion" Buzz mentioned 1 time in the original Toy Story. So we can at least see that there are efforts made to keep relatively obscure elements of the world building intact. It could also be like a Ghostbusters scenario in the Toy Story universe, where there was a successful "life action" film with an added cartoon tv show made for kids (Toy Story does take place in the 90s, cartoon spinoffs were more common back then).

I'm a big fan of the show, have been for a long time, I've got one of the villains tattooed on me- I'm cautious about the movie but hey, we've barely seen anything yet so I can pass no judgement. Good to hear people talk about it sometimes

I remember it, there was.. Buzz Girl Janitor Robot That’s all I know, honestly the background character designs were way cooler than the main characters.

I honestly just find it so weird how Patrick Warburton redid Tim Allen’s lines for the adventure begins movie when it was redone into 3 individual episodes. You know what I mean?

I think it’ll be cool if the new movie is the “real” Buzz Lightyear, and cartoons were like an homage to the dude; like a fantasy series’s based on the things he did.

I remember some plots of the show pretty decently, but I don't remember the characters at all. Except the anti-buzz from the other universe that is literally mainprotag-plotarmor put against the heroes and it's great in retrospect. Looking into my memory, it is played so straight that it becomes a big "parody funny" again.

My theory is that Lightyear will cover the life and achievements of the in-universe real-life dude that inspired the in-universe toy and cartoon.

So, apparently BUZZ lighter's new movie🍿🎥 is coming in 2022 fet. Crish Evans as buzz Lightyear.. But I can't believe that everyone forgot about this og master piece. "Buzz Lightyear of star ⭐command"

I loved this series and am disappointed it's not on Disney+ yet. My expectation for the movie is the movie is Real Life Buzz and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is a show in movie's universe made to capitalise on Real Buzz's adventures and sell the toys. Or perhaps Real Buzz grew up with the show and toys, changed his name to Buzz to mimic his hero and finally gets to go to space to achieve his dream of being Buzz Lightyear in real life and the movie is about him stepping up to the plate to be worthy of the name.

I’m like woah in the Pilot episode they wanted Mira X Buzz to be a thing but hate that in the series they didn’t do that. Funny how they did use both Patrick & Allen voices and their tones can make the same character sound too serious or the right choice

I always confused this with that Lloyd In Space show that ran at the same time. I remember an episode of one of those two shows that was pretty ahead of it's time, where they had a nonbinary alien character that got to choose what gender it got to become when it hit puberty (if it wanted, I think)

So I am watching this after I watched Lightyear cause I found it as I was looking up, the animated TV show to compare The movie to my memories of the TV show. And everything you say in this little clip goes with what I think of the TV show and why it is so much better than the movie lightyear. Lightyear completely disregards everything good about buzz in favour of a stupid plot and horrible characters that have no heart and no personality. They are just empty shells.

I remember this show very well, actually. I loved how “Saturday morning” it felt on Toon Disney. It was originally on UPN/ABC but I remember the reruns on Toon Disney a smidgen better.

I don't remember much about this show's plot, but i _vividly_ remember all the character designs extremely well. and some of the basic concepts and dynamics. it may not have been the best show, but it was memorable in some ways for sure.

I am kind of praying that they go this route. XR was hilarious, Booster was a funny but noble and charming, and Princess Mira Nova was badass (just don't look up google images).

Feel bad knowing that after watching the 2022 movie that the show movie Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins felt more in line with what it should have been. Also didn't help that one of the plot of the 2022 movie was done better in the 2000 movie. Case in point if you had watch the show/was born during that time, you might not like the 2022 movie.

I definitely remember watching this show whenever it had reruns on Disney channel , and it’s an absolute mystery to me that it isn’t on Disney + yet .

I remember *one* episode from this show: The Wire Wolf. Because it was the most badass thing I'd ever seen. A robot werewolf that rips technology apart to build its werewolf form.

Movie was bad, and did not capture the essence of Buzz.

I will never understand why Disney didn't give this show the attention it deserves. Especially considering Buzz is one of their most popular characters. If they ever change their minds and release it on DVD, I'd buy it day one.

I love this show! And the range of foes was great, it wasnt just all Zurg. PLUS it had an origin for the LGMs too! And Nos-4-A-2 the vampire android was great haha

The *Better* Lightyear

Strangely enough, the toys were more memorable than the actual series. I remember hearing about it but the scheduling was weird (like you mentioned). I hope that if this movie does well we'll see more from Disney's old cartoons. Here's hoping for Disney's Hercules to make a come back!!! Greek Mythology, with a Broadway Style & Gospel Music...it had never been done before or since.

I think a Lightyear movie is interesting. I did watch this series when I was a kid. I would love to revisit it if Disney Plus ever decides to put it on the service. I would be disappointed if the Lightyear movie doesn't utilize the great characters from this show.

I remember this! I used to watch The Adventure Begins on VHS at my grandparents house back in the early 2000s. Good times. I also remember renting the PS1 game from my local Hollywood Video as a kid and loving it. For the Zoomers who maybe don't know this show, it was created by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley who went on to create Kim Possible. Their comic timing shows up all over this show particularly with XR. Also ngl I had a crush on Mira Nova as a kid. Don't judge! lol

I still own the classic VHS Tape to this very day and aware of a certain "reboot of a prequel" being made by Pixar themselves.

My problem with the movie it is that this show existed, and had a distinct look, very colofur and a bit goofy... But the movie seems pretty generic in general. And you know... a red hair, blue princess psychic is tough to beat as a parnert in missions

Lightyear was such a disappointment, I started to watch "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" instead
