I used to watch Discovery Kids a lot when I was a kid, I never realized it was edutainment until it was pointed out lol. They did really well to mask the educational elements within the writing.

I loved this show as a kid. While most of my friends knew Jim as the voice of Ruff Ruffman, I knew him as Kenny the Shark. I wonder if I liked this show because I liked sharks or if I liked sharks because I liked this show.

I remember one episode of this show. It's the one where they were at an auction and Kenny ate a bunch of stuff. So when he would bring it back up, the girl would sell them for a huge amount of money. Pretty funny episode looking back at it.

Honestly kenny the shark is a show that always makes me think of maya and miguel and the excitement to watch these shows

Can't believe you didn't mention Ahean. He's the old sea captain who becomes Kat's neighbour, who started out thinking all sharks are dangerous and tries to kill Kenny in his first episode but changes his tune after Kenny saves his life. He was featured a lot throughout the show and you even showed clips of him (the old man in sailor attire) yet you didn't mention him despite him becoming an important mainstay on the show.

I loved this show. Don’t really remember much of the other characters outside of Kenny, Kat, the Bull Shark gal, and the kid who always found a way to mention that he is a descendant of the Ancient Maya, despite never really going anywhere with that fact.

Yes, and the theme song is forever ingrained in my brain. It'll appear out of nowhere, same thing with 64 Zoo Lane. Ever since then, I haven't been able to look at the number 64 without humming the theme.

oh my god i havent heard anything about kenny the shark since i was in 2nd grade. The teachers in my hallway used to gather all of our classes together into one room and watch this. We had a classmate named Kenny and used to pretend he was Kenny the Shark... hah... good times.

Okay, now that Fringemas is almost over, I was wondering if perhaps you look over a little-known live-action Nick series. I know that you usually do cartoons, but I'm sure you could make an exception for this. Maybe you could look into either The Other Kingdom or I Am Frankie. They're two Nickelodeon sitcoms that are very different from your standard Nick sitcom, and yet nobody ever talks about them (especially the former one). Would you like to look into either of them? You might spread some awareness to the shows.

There we are, been mentioning this show since you put out the first discovery kids show.(I think that’s tutistien I first mentioned it) though there’s like the future is wild and a couple of other hidden gems that were on discovery kids I’m glad you have hit the trio of discovery kids which were Kenny the shark, tutiestien, and time warp trio.

This and Time Warp Trio were basically how I started every morning as a kid in first grade. Although it’s hilarious how I remember both of them having way better animation than they did 😂

Discovery kids? More like the vault of amazing nostalgic shows that we’ve discovered in our childhood age! Shows like this one, Grossology, Magic School Bus, Maya and Miguel, Bill Nye, Word Girl, Pandemonium and so much more! Discovery kids had given us so many awesome cartoons and I love them for this.

You should really do the last Discovery Kids cartoon “The Future is Wild” some time before this year ends, it’s a CGI show about a girl from the future who goes to the past to find a new century for her people to live in due to her own timeline being in danger of experiencing another ice age, but meets 3 other teenagers from the 21st Century who help her find a new home by looking in many different time periods of the future involving many fictional creatures including a recurring one named “Squibbon” that the 21st century girl Emily keeps as a pet.
