@@SaqlainRattansi I remember the episode where all of Mrs. Flatbottom's windows broke and Andy and Rodney were falsely punished for it and as a reward they were given delicious lemonade.
One joke I fondly remember from this show was when Rodney was stuck in the wall. "Hopefully someone will hear me, I got 3 good screams in me!" And everytime he would, it would reverb through the house, just as everyone happened to leave at once. Andy thought he heard something, opened the door, shrugged, and closed it behind him 3 times.
The joke with the exterminator guy at the end was always hilarious to me! Throughout the episode he’s hunting Rodney throughout the walls, mistaking him for his nemesis: some swamp rat of Sumatra or something. Once he corners Rodney, the Dad actually defends him and tells the guy to Vamoose, only for the guy to say he hates getting Vamoosed before getting blasted into the air by a water geyser, like this was a regularly scheduled thing for him🤣🤣🤣
I wasn't crazy about this show, but I remember two things that it seems I won't forget 1) the show acknowledged foamy soap and how much fun it was to find a foam soap dispenser as a kid (since they were rare during the time) 2) there was a contest episode to see who can eat the most amount of Cheese logs and I lowkey really wanted to eat one.
it taught me what butt munchies were. memba sitting for long periods of time on wooden or steel bleachers? then after some time it would feel like ants were crawling all over ya cheeks? yeah. butt munchies.
I remember watching that short where Squirrel Boy wanted to break the piggy bank to get the money, but the piggy bank is just as hard as iron that he struggled to break it out in a cartoonish fashion. Good times. Also, isn't that weird that the Andy doesn't have eyes outside his glasses when you look behind?
I think I heard somewhere that his design is based off Duckman's design. I mean, both have their eyes on glasses and not really their face and they have the same hair style.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 Yeah I know. That's why I said they are similar. I think Peck said the similarities were intentional but I'm too lazy to look for the source.
@@qualitycrystalsproductions7318 Also, sad news. The creator of Squirrel Boy and Duckman, Everett Peck, died from pancreatic cancer last month. I discovered it earlier when someone mentioned in the comments said that the creator died, which I'm curious that I have to look it up. Condolence to his family and friends. Rest in peace.
I loved this show and I don’t know why I had a toy from this show I got from a fast food chain I can’t remember which one and it was my favorite toy for the longest.
The Squirrel of Sandwich was one of my favorite games when I was younger. When it came to the show I liked it, why idk, couldn't even tell you all that much about it before this review, but it is one of those shows I remember that no one else seems to.
I’ll always remember this show because there was an episode where Rodney called Salty Mike “Pepper Jack”. I really liked that name and I named the cat I got shortly after seeing the episode Pepper Jack, although I usually shortened it to Peppers. I had him for eight years before he passed due to kidney failure a few days before Christmas in 2015. I still have his favorite toy, a little frisbee disc twice the size of a quarter coin, in my bedside drawer. I miss you buddy.
I used to play One Squirrelly Summer all the time as a kid. Finally got around to watching it 8 or so years ago it’s very silly and funny. Rodney is hilarious too. Also, RIP Everett Peck.
After working on Squirrel Boy, Everett Peck actually went on to teach animation and art classes at Cal State Long Beach, and I had the honor of being in his Character Design class. Such a great teacher and friend I got to know while I was there, I hope he knows how many people he has left an impact on.
There one episode I remember from this show where Andy was a benchwarmer for his baseball team, he would literally take hot towels and heat lamps to keep the bench warm. There was one scene where he says something like "I found an easier way to do it." And it just cuts to the bench on fire. I remember that scene making me really laugh.
I remember hearing about this show and seeing some episodes back in the day. It didn't click for me. But I miss that era of Cartoon Network when you had so much variety of shows to watch and choose from.
I do remember this show and honestly the voice actor’s are probably the reason you gravitate toward it in the first place. Put Richard Horvitz in it and I can’t help but fall in love with the character; he’s just too good! Overall not a bad show.
One thing I’m surprised wasn’t mentioned was the running gag they had where Andy would grab some family heirloom/household item and say it was given to him by his nana before she ~vanished~ and they’d do a scary music + zoom on his face whenever he said it. I always wished they built upon it or used it as a b-plot the mystery of what happened to her. Felt it could’ve really fleshed out the show’s plot.
I loved watching Squirrel Boy when it came on. Believe it or not, its grounded zaniness perfectly contrasted other shows that were airing around the same time like Camp Lazlo. It always felt like a more "soft" show that was easy to watch imo. Brings back a lot of memories of summertime as a kid.
I remember seeing the characters this show only a few times on the famous Cartoon Network City bumps here on RU-vid. Too bad that the creator of this show (Everett Peck) sadly passed away two months ago..
I remember just about EVERY cartoon I watched when I was a kid very vividly almost like it was yesterday, so when your video asks me "Wait remember-" and I would interrupt and say YES!!! But besides that I like to watch anyways just to make sure I didn't dream some moments of a show.
How could I NOT forget those phantom spectacles which house disembodied eyeballs that hover in front of the caved-in skull of an overly oily boy who is eternally tormented by a red demon-- absolutely iconic!
I used to watch this show when I was a kid, and I thought it was pretty funny. When I got older, I can see why people didn't really like it that much, but it did have some funny moments here and there. Rip Everett Peck, may he rest in peace.
I always thought this show had creative connections to teachers pet as a kid but it being duckman and klasky csupo makes sence very distinct art styles and writing
I liked Squirrel Boy when I was a kid. Richard Horvitz as Rodney always stuck with me, but he's iconic in every role he's in. The only episode I remember is the one where Rodney was trying to get a pool set up so he could see the girl squirrel in her swimsuit. I also remember when Rodney and the dad had competing newspapers and the dad announced his by saying "Hear ye, hear ye" and Rodney yells "Extra extra! Dad announces newspaper without saying 'Extra extra!'"
I remember this show. I also remember when I was thinking about this show a few years ago and got it confused with Cramp Twins. This video also informed me that Kurtwood Smith, Pamala Adalon among others. I really only knew Squirrels voice. That cast really brings this show up for me in terms of favoritism
Literally the only thing I remember from this show is the one episode where the dad and Andy where on buying stuff in bulk because it’s cheaper and the Squirrel and the mom (maybe) where being monetarily wasteful by buying in small quantities in bulk.
I initially disliked this show as a kid. But it doesn't make the creator's death any less tragic. I will say that it did have some creativity in this show. I still remember the Island in the Street episode and the treehouse-off episode with the middle aged neighbor who always talked like a thesaurus, saying different words with the same meaning all at once. Also, Cartoon Network had this trend in the mid 2000s where they had a boy and his non human friend who always get themselves in trouble. This, Foster's, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Robotboy (similar title), even Adventure Time, which like Gym Partner, had a best friend animal character named Jake. Tommy from Robotboy even looks like Mac!
I remember this show, and I specifically remember liking that one episode where Rodney becomes a singer and his voice becomes incredibly deep whenever he sings one song.
I mainly remember this show for this episode where Andy eats chicken nuggets with cashews in them and blows up like a balloon. I think it may have awakened something inside me
Everett Peck also worked on the Jumanji Cartoon in the 90s(I think). It might still be on hulu. The character designs are the same , but the artstyle is toally different, more overcast than sunny.
That's crazy because I liked this show a lot as a kid and then watching Duckman as an adult last year I liked it. His writing style must just groove with me
The show hasn't aired in the US since early 2009 and I only remember seeing this show once or twice on TV. It was the season 2 episode with the flowers. I actually rewatched the series in June and yeah, it's not the greatest show that came out in the 2000s. I think it's a 4 out of 10 series. Maybe a 5. It's just okay...not good or bad just...okay. At least it got a 2nd season.
Yay! You decided to finally talk about Squirrel Boy, I have been wondering if you would and I have a story to go along. I lived in Mexico border constantly visiting the US, shows premiered first in the US and after their translation was done they were shown in Mexico which took quite a while and my naïve mind never knew why and just thought it was unfair, it happened first with Camp Lazlow. Anyways, I remember watching the premier of Squirrel Boy with a cousin in the US and liking it a lot, after going to school, everyone was talking about what unpopular cartoons we liked, I said this show and everyone gave this look of 'uh-huh, sure buddy' then promptly ignored me, I had forgotten that I saw it in the US and schedules were different for both countries, weeks later they showed the trailer for the show and everyone thought I had predicted it and that it looked exactly how I described it and praised me as psychic. Instead of telling everyone the truth, I just basked in the glory and popularity that temporarily brought me, which in turn made the show very popular around the city for a few months!
The one episode that always stuck with me was the one with Rodney ending up stuck in the walls. The exterminator guy they call had this whole history with his “nemisis”: the giant swamp rat of Sumatra or something. Looking back, that TOTALLY could’ve been that B plot he was talking about: this guy traveling around the world chasing after that giant rat like a game of cat and mouse, no pun intended. He naturally mistakes Rodney for the Rat and even in the end it has a final joke that could’ve been like a running gag for it, where the Dad stands up for Rodney and tells the guy to Vamoose, only for the guy to say he hates getting Vamoosed like it’s happened before and gets blasted into the air from a water geyser. Remembering it just made me realize how it was pretty much his version of Team Rocket’s iconic “we’re blasting off again!” thing from the Pokémon anime, which just made it funnier whether it was intentionally referencing that or not.
I liked squirrel boy and I didn’t know Pamela aldon did voice work on the show until I was looking through her IMDb page seeing all the shows she did that I actually enjoyed watching growing up making her a big part of my childhood through her voice acting
The main episode I remember was the flea market episode which enjoyable and kind of heartwarming. Outside of that and the games I don’t remember much about it
I only remember one specific scene from this show. It was the episode with a really old guy who was a crossing guard and Andy tells some story about how the crossing guard once saved his dad from a runaway "dino cart" with the dad cutting in with "hey, just how old do you think I am?!"
There's only one thing I remember about this show: when Rodney was impersonating Andy's dad with a fat belly and said "I guess everything is back to normal" and then his dad ran away screaming
This feels like one of those shows you think was a fever dream but then remember a few moments and realize, oh wait, it was an actual thing lol What's in that secret sauce!? Rofl
The only thing I remember vividly from this show is the episode where Andy befriends the bully’s pet bird and they bond over rocks that look like snack foods
Honestly, this show was pretty good, it was one of those shows that I sort of remember and then go back watch again kind of like the Mighty B and My Gym Partners a Monkey
I remember when Squirrel Boy was new being promoted on Fridays on Cartoon Network with Tommy, Tara & the puppets (even the unholy abomination that was the cockroach one) every time they said the show's title the jingle for the would play right after.
I remember crushing hard on Tara and even the CN City announcer, Nikki. Her voice was so innocent and optimistic. And I love how during the audio promos, she would describe what it's like living in the CN City as if the bumpers weren't enough to make it feel real. I know Tara is an anime voice actress who's still working but no one seems to know where Nikki is now.
From watching this series, I can only remember 2 episodes There was an episode where Rodney was declared an endangered animal, which gave him free reign to do anything, annoying the dad ofc And another episode which was a bit weird, it was about Rodney and the kid fighting and splitting, each other now looking for a new best friend. And the dad was kinda insistent for his son to befriend a kid, because he was perfect and everything His son rejected him, the kid said he would be fine to the dad and walked away, and the dad was like "that kid will be a president someday"
I feel like I’m the only one who remembers this show. I recently started watching this show a few months back, and apart from the character designs and animation style, the writing isn’t the best, but I haven’t finished the series yet so I don’t have a definitive opinion yet. Also, One Squirrely Summer was a great game with a banger soundtrack.
I remember Squirrel Boy! Richard Horvitz is my favorite voice actor for his funny and obscure voices he is my personal favorite I hope I get to meet him one day!
i did like squirrel boy, it was ok, wish it lasted longer than it did. my favorite episode was the one where they drunk that lemonade and started tripping😂😂
No there's no super hero named Squirrel Boy, but there is a D list Marvel hero named Squirrel Girl. She has the power to talk to squirrels, and her task is to protect Central Park. Not New York just Central Park. She's purely a a comic relief character and nothing serious happens with her. She also has taken down some of the strongest villains in Marvel. She beaten Dr. Doom, Thanos, Bi-Beast(well she helped The Thing beat him), and convinced Galactus to not destroy the Earth.
Watched this show a lot as a kid, and have a few fond memories from admittedly not the best episodes. Yet...I don't have ANY memory of the bully and his bird, like at all. It's like it's just be wiped from my memory.
