Honestly i do agree that he does stretch a couple things a lot of that is mostly for the sake of comedy or is taken too seriously (liu kang sparing ketana because shes pretty is a example) My biggest disagreement with brusk come from the Shang Tsung stuff. Brusk said Shang didn't win nine straight. However its stated in the canonically comics Shang won nine straight times before losing to the great kung lao. My bigger problem is that Shang Tsung is the final boss of MK1. While it is true Liu Kang fought Shang because the island is collapsing. This ignores the point that he is the final obstacle Liu Kang must face in order to achieve victory. MK1, 2, deadly alliance, 2011, the original movie and MK11 all show the two as rivals. Liu Kang battle Shang Tsung to restore order. He maybe the host but the movie really did him dirty as he does nothing throughout the whole thing other then stop Quan chi's absolutely awful murder plan. (seriously he was directly next to him) by removing his role as final boss you rob the character of his rivalry with the hero and as such it's not intresting when they fight in the sequel because we never seen Shang fight in this continuity. It's meant to be intense because the idea is if Shang was able to hold his own as a decrepit old man. Then gaining his youth back makes the fight more intense as now he has more of an edge. While he is the host you can't deny that final battle was Shang Tsung. He's not the champion (he'll he's easier then goro in mk1) but Sonic being angry about this is logical because as fans we expect certain things. Subzero and Scorpion must fight. Sonya has to battle Kano. Shang Tsung must be defeated by Liu Kang. Its not just a series it's the status quo and expected. While I do disagree with Sonic on most of scorpion's revenge I do highly agree with the Shang Tsung stuff. Edit: i removed a couple minor errors that bugged me.

It's weird how I find myself agreeing with both of these nerds on a lot of things. Super fun stream, too. Even with how he kept stumbling on his words and struggling to make his points because of that.

What they could have done was to have a magic source for the island generated by Shang Tsung. After the tournament finished, he'd go shutting it down to kill the Earthrealmers combatants, only for Liu Kang to find out, and they had a fight. That way you could have both Shang Tsung not being part of tournament, and a Shang Tsung fight. Other than that (and Goro death), I love this movie

honestly from the various things you tried to justify, I found the justification of Johnny behavior to be very forced, like, Humor is indeed relative but his ignorant behavior cannot be just denied. anyone with 2 brain cells would notice the lack of cameras, directors,breaks and all the violence happening explicitly without any pauses to exchange for a puppet or something like that. You can say "that's the joke!" but that doesn't make this a good joke in my opinion.

Reptile should have won the fight between Sonya and your main reason of why brusk thought he could not win because he got mud on him. Shang Tsung being nothing but host isn't established clearly in the original timeline. Just because you're a lore nerd, doesn't mean you get a free pass on ridiculing others for not having the same knowledge as you.

Where'd you get the idea that you don't fight the host in a fighting game tournament as if it's a golden rule? In MK1, Shang is the host and you fight him. In MK2, Shao is the host and you fight him. In any King of Fighters tournament, the person who decides to host said tournament is the final(or semi-final) fight: Rugal, Adelheid, Krizalid, Antonov, etc. Heihachi and Kazuya host tournaments for ownership of the Mishima Zaibatsu to flush eachother out and they fight. The host can participate if they want to, it's their house, their rules. I'm just saying being the host doesn't exempt you from being a participant, so the host thing is not a valid defense for Shang Tsung not getting to fight.

I would've agreed with you if you had listen to one full segment of Sonic before reply to that particular thing before interepting his video in every 10 seconds to say something. If you would've listen to him properly you would've agreed with many of the things he says. Also I think you did a very poor Job of countering Sonic's agrument here. After 1 hour you seems to rather than countering sonic started defending the movie at any cost necessary.

I wont weigh in on this movies as the sequel kinda soured me on this one. Not that I should be soured but now when I watch Scorpion's Revenge, I know where its going....and its not....good.

Your defense for Lui kang being forgettable was AWFUL Yeah he has a lot of screen time which makes it WORSE if the audience forgets him that shows that you have a bland uninteresting character

Yeah, i agree with your take on RLM. I'm yet to give them a real shot, but from what I've seen, they are seriously overrated.

Sonic had some fair points, but yes I think he was stretching his criticisms a bit too far. With his logic, the bad guys should just win. Because no mortal person would be able to defeat demons and people with super powers in a realistic sense.

I feel gamers are way harsh on new Mortal Kombat stories as if the Midway was superb storytelling. Cage died around four times in the Midway era due to issues with his actor.
