I am 28 years old. I lost my virginity at 19 as soon as I joined university. Went ahead to engage in promiscuity and drug abuse until last year(27). The sexual encounters were never fulfilling but made me feel normal, experience an illusion of closeness(somehow they left me more empty) and feel visible if I felt that I was pleasing to someone. Somewhere along the way, I dropped out of school. I am now 8 and 1/2 months clean from both the drugs and promiscuity. Been through so much healing these past few years, which started while I was still living my old life. I grew up in a strict family... and lonely after losing my mum at 10. I was so lost and wanted to belong so badly. It might not make sense to everyone, but now that I am older and wiser,.. I realize that I never knew myself or what I wanted, let alone the seriousness of the life I chose to engage in. If I could go back I would do everything differently. But I also realize that life is for making mistakes and growing wiser. I forgive myself and feel Graceful(my name is actually Grace and I hated it for so long,.. it's different now, I couldn't have any other name if I was to choose). I feel that I finally got to the end of the tunnel. There is light in my life now, and I am able to love and care for myself better. P. s, I am going back to school this September. I was touched when she said a believer's virginity is the least of what being a Christian is all about. An intimacy with God is what really matters. That opened my spirit because it's indeed true. I tend to differ. If its the least thing then why is it such a big deal and one of the most difficult sins people struggle with. The fact that virginity is biblical but society has made promiscuity a norm shows how much of a great deal it is. I made the decision to “wait” when I was 11/12 years old. Just turned 29 and I’m still going strong. It’s certainly not an easy journey but focusing on God has made this journey one of the best. God has been so good!
God did the most, he saved me from the spirit of homosexuality during my 21 days of fasting and prayer(still can not believe it... so much to this story) and also taught me about purity which led to my celibacy journey, not waiting for marriage though. This is encouraging ! The wait is worth it ! When you're busy with the right thing, doing the right things and pleasing God, there won't be time to do the wrong things. Obeying God is for our own good.
This was amazing. I love Rori acknowledging that virginity is a calling and worship in itself, however it is not the complete work. The things that matter most are those of the Spirit and soul. It is allowing the Holy Spirit and love to change and mold you. Being a virgin is beautiful, but it doesn't automatically make you a good Christian. This is not to undermine virginity; it in itself is mighty and a difficult journey. It's just that we should be more aware of and place more value on the work God does within us.
Once I realised that serving the Lord is about dying to self, it changed everything. It's all about about the Lord, about serving Him. And that's not easy in a world where you are bombarded with messages about following your heart, and doing what makes you happy. I chose celibacy 5 years ago and to serve the Lord, not easy but God is faithful. He deserves our lives, our trust because He does so much for us every day. But most importantly, He is a sovereign God! ❤️

One of the things I love about this is how Rorisang highlights “salvation” as the end goal. If anything, when God helped me redefine what being a virgin was, it helped me shift my focus from “future” intimacy to working out my salvation each day. My virginity stopped being a constant thought, rather, how I can go on pleasing God in how I live my life. That has been so fulfilling. Its the best decision I have ever made, I'm now closer to God more than ever, growing spiritually and achieving things I can't even fathom. I wish I had held on to my belief when I was young but then again, He's grace is sufficient for me 🥰🙌
