This was absolutely fantastic. One of the best series I've ever listened to. The Bakersfield 3 is actually about the 3 mothers and their horrendous and brave journey of surviving the loss of a child. Their stories are heartbreaking and yet inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

I think the most important lesson we can take from this case isn’t even the fact that addiction does not discriminate, but rather the fact that so many people are still unaware of this. Despite addiction being so rampant in our society, despite the fact that mental health is grossly underfunded, despite the fact that it is proven to cause physical changes so a person’s brain when they are addicted to drugs, despite how many cases are in the news everyday, there are still people who are not aware of the danger. It shouldn’t be a surprise that “good people can get caught up in these things” because most addicts were also good people. There needs to be so much more education on the subject of addiction if there is going to be any real change. People need to know the reality of it.

I don't believe Bailey is alive and I question whether if she participated in Micah's murder. If Queen was as controlling as people have said it wouldn't surprise me if Bailey was forced to be a witness and take part in Micah's murder and that once Micah was taken care of, Queen then killed Bailey. I understand that Bailey seems like a loud, horrible person by what people have said but it's likely she used anger as a sheild against the gang rape. This crime was a hard one for me. I understand to a certain extent what these moms went through. My sister was murdered but they found her murderer the same day. No years of wondering, no loose ends except for why she was killed. It's the unsolved cases that are the hardest. You have no closure. If you have children, no matter their age, hug them, call them and make sure they know they are loved. I'm grateful I was the last person to talk to my sister, I'm happy I could tell her I loved her. Your whole life can change within seconds, don't take anyone you love for granted. They might not be here from one moment to the next.

I question her possible participation in the murder as well. I don't even understand how they can charge her since she hasn't been seen in so long. I think she may have known about queen killing micha and was possibly gonna leave him and he murdered her also.

I agree wholeheartedly that Baylee was forced to participate in Micah’s murder and I believe Queen killed her after the miscarriage. I think he felt like he was losing control. I hope James’s mother gets closure and finds out who killed him. I’m surprised that the chiropractor wasn’t charged

Olivia, thank you for the documentary. I knew about the Bakersfield three, but not all the details. The three mom’s are truly courageous women, and my heart goes out to them for their loss. They handled a very difficult situation in the best way possible. I hope Bailey will be found and James’ murder solved. Olivia, I think you did an excellent job presenting the information.

I had had a small piece of information early in the case, overall it didn't become anything, but when I called the Bakersfield Police to notify them, they were careless about the phone call, they didn't even recognize the missing person's name who I was referring to. Bakersfield Police are complete morons and that probably has a lot to do with why they haven't solved much in so much time. I couldn't imagine how many people called in to help and they were disregarded by some idiot on the phone. The officer I spoke with was perfectly fine with getting off the phone with me and not even getting my contact information as they said just try the sheriff because we don't know who you're talking about and the case was already famous at this point. Kern County Law system is very dark and corrupt who knows what's really behind this case.

Many people here think Bailey had nothing to do with killing of Micah but that simply isn't objective reality of situation, according to Olivia's own post on reddit about a case This is a summary of the evidence they have against her: Phone tower data that places Queen and Baylee together, at Vandecasteele's house on the night they believe Micah was killed. Vandecasteele and Sara's testimony that they saw Baylee and Queen going in and out of Vandecasteele's garage on this night in question. A spot of Micah's blood in Vandecasteele's garage (which supports their theory that something happened to Micah in Vandecasteele's garage, which in turn I suppose supports Vandecasteele's story that Baylee was in the garage with Queen on the night in question). A piece of the rope tied to a purse Baylee owned that was one of the belonging that Queen dropped off at her friend's house, about a month after she went missing--the rope was the same rope that was found tied on the bag with Micah's arm inside. Testimony from a handful of people who say Baylee "hated" Micah and one person who said she said she'd kill him if given the chance, and another person who said Baylee seemed into it when Queen was allegedly overheard talking about torturing Micah. There is also some witness who said that Bailey threatended to kill Miach over stolen gun. It's just... mess of a case. But drugs, sex work, illegal weapons only lead toward one path

33:27 amazing. This woman would rather have her daughter dead than have given her a chance to overcome her problems and live a happy life. This woman would rather have her daughter dead than face any sort of accountability for why her daughter decided to go down a dark path to begin with, an all to unfortunate common choice many young people make as a result of childhood trauma, trauma that in most cases come from THE PARENTS.

You know, the heros of this story are the mothers of the victims. Turning their tragedy into progressive steps for detectives. The new sonar equipment, making more advanced DNA testing available for families of victims, etc. Their determination will help countless others.
@ConnorEverything1997
@ConnorEverything1997 3 месяца назад
This is a horrendous take. All the mothers did was go behind law enforcements back when all law enforcement was trying to do was keep the case low profile. It was DETECTIVES that sat through the hundreds of Jail calls from Matt which eventually led to the "Bailey is in the same place as Micah" and ultimately the revelation that Matt Queen helped kill Micah. In fact, the moms were the most annoying part of this whole thing, especially Bailey's mom, what a specimen.

Queen goes from saying "I did what I thought I had to do to keep my family safe" then immediately shifts into saying Baylee taking it a too far. His first statement implies that he was the one who did something, not Baylee. This man lies so much it's insane.

32:08 “she was only 20” Jane says as she constantly tries to vindicate her daughter from any wrong doing or poor decision making, making her out to be 110% childish victim yet simultaneously tries to paint the mirrored image of her daughter, Sarah, as an evil cold hearted villain that is entirely guilty of all action and not in any way shape or form a naive 20 year old child taken advantage of by older malicious predators.
