This is my childhood from when I was 4 and I was just listening to these type of songs at my favorite beach that I grew up on. It's sad to say that these kind of songs died out and now there's those crappy songs that just sing about stupid things like watch me. This song has a wonderful message. Millions of people know about things going wrong with the world, but we do nothing about it simply because we aren't forced to and we feel powerless. Now imagine if everyone in the world picked up one piece of trash every day. Every individual has power, and people like John Mayer are the ones who inspire people to start doing something about the wrongs in this world. If everyone brought their power together, our strength would be overwhelming.
huh?? I had heard this song about 5 times in the last year or two (2023-4) and really liked the music, vocals, and beat...but only just now -April 13, 2024 - did I read the lyrics! What wonderful message?! And how does John Mayer "inspire" anyone?! He is very clearly saying - wait...sit around and do nothing BUT wait...that ain't gonna change a damn thing! I sang this at my aunt and uncles wedding when i was 15 and got told by the strange arrangement (thats a local band where im from. For those wondering im from pine island florida.) I should sing in their band for a bit (i grew up with the lead guitarist and singer they are twins and like uncles to me i love them so much!!) I wish i'd done so many things differently. I've fucked up relationships, friend and other wise, I'm in goddamned therapy now, and I'm still trying to pick up the peices of glass i broke. It's almost 2018 and I feel like our generation will change the world. I'm 22 and I feel like love is the answer. Anybody crazy enough to agree? It's the most hated word but feared by all. It's only how much you choose to see. Love conquers all.
