As an international, I've been waitlisted at MIT, UChicago, Princeton, Duke, and many top LACs. I do not have even one acceptance that I can afford. Thanks for this helpful video. Although the chances are low, one more try doesn't hurt.
Do u mind sharing your stats? I’m applying next year and wanted I good idea of what someone who’s applying to your listed school may have had, as I’m also looking to apply to similar schools. If you don’t want to that’s fine as well.
Good Lord nothing is normal. I’m 35 years OLDER than you, and female, but I couldn’t even have thought about applying to Michigan or Penn, but was accepted to Georgia Tech when they received my math SAT score. But that was in 1989. I went to Lehigh - but transferred to University of Florida, and loved it. Now my sons can’t get into UF - so they’ll go to either Virginia Tech or Alabama. Good luck!!
@@aman-qj5sx Fit for my son and preference for the job market post graduation. He wants to remain in the south rather than move to the mid-Atlantic region. He wants the southern college (SEC) experience with college football and pretty girls 🙄. He loved the campus - amazing what proceeds from many football NCs can build on a college campus. If only viewing from ranking of its selectivity and student body competitive standpoint, Va Tech wins hands down. When making the decision based on multiple factors, Bama is the right choice. Plus, we live in FL; we haven’t worn masks or been required to be vaccinated for covid; and we’ve all had covid a couple times. It seems as though many colleges and people outside of the south are still overly concerned about covid - no one in Alabama is wearing a mask or pushing us to get “triple-vaxxed”. We are conservative. It’s not easy to find a college with similar values - where free speech on campus is actually supported and encouraged.
@@aman-qj5sx Amen @Aman!! I visited Palo Alto many years ago. I found the town lovely - and of course the Stanford campus amazed me. It was a tech hub even then - I think Lockheed or Loral were there then, and of course HP - my Dad was an aeronautical engineer who did some work in those fields in 80s & earlier, so he took me to visit. But now? Innovation seems to be in the drinking water. Must be a fascinating place to live, even to just listen to an average discussion at a coffee shop. Funny that these days, I tend to agree with many liberal-leaning people on more topics than we’d initially imagine. When I characterize myself as ‘conservative’, I just mean that I don’t want things to vary much away from the US Constitution - I don’t think government does a great job at making rules (and politicians don’t follow them anyway) - so I just generally want government & politicians to leave me alone. 😉 Stay out of my health decisions, just teach my kids the basics, stay out of my bedroom & conversations & gun safe, don’t stop me from having a conversation, and let me make my decisions & lead my life as I see fit. Government seems to butt in with solutions that create more problems - and I’m starting to believe that the additional problems aren’t actually ‘unintended’, but I’m trying to not be a conspiracy nut. @Aman, I have a question - are Californians that you encounter - are they fearful of covid, still now? If not, for how long were they? We have some worried folks in FL, but I rarely see a mask now. In FL, I watched the dashboard numbers daily - I’m a data-driven type - and once I saw that covid-19 was not killing children & young people, I definitely relaxed. Surely that first month or so was creepy - was this to be the next plague? Once we saw that it was attacking older folks and already ill folks, we did what was needed - protected our parents & grandparents - did a lot of stuff outside and did online work, and socially distanced to slow down the hospital stays … but by the summer, we just returned to generally normal lives. I initially worried about FL bc of our older population - but it just didn’t become that dire. The Governor shut down nursing home visits really early, and a lot of folks were outside getting natural Vitmin D - we had a beautiful sunny February. Might have helped. My family and I all had covid a couple times - but recovered quickly….. . And yet - every couple of months we would learn about a middle aged friend dying, and we had a close friend that was close to hospitalization until he received the monoclonal antibodies treatment. Majority of older folks - 60 and older - have been vaccinated (my husband has), but I wasn’t. I still have antibodies even today. Anyway … sorry for the long tome, but it’s raining and I’m taking a break from spring cleaning. I’d love to hear how Palo Alto-ians still view covid. Funny that this is a college prep site, but comments help their algorithm, they tell me. 😉

Berkeley is letting in the regular amount of students for this year. The state legislature signed a bill to let Berkeley continue their original plans of letting in students.
Do you know the percentage of acceptance at Columbia from the waitlist? I have also been waitlisted at Columbia. And I think there are a lot of students who got into the waitlist of Columbia this year. Is it that Columbia waitlists more students than other top colleges?
My comment was waitlisted. This is my LOCI to Supertutor TV. Please admit my comment to your RU-vid video as I would make a valuable addition to it and I promise to attend all Supertutor TV football games and cheer on the Babbling Brookes!
Waitlisted at 3 schools (Rice, WashU, Vandy). I don’t think I wanna play this college admissions game anymore, so I’ll just go to state school. Good luck to everyone else trying to get off the waitlists though.
My daughter was waitlisted at Penn, Dartmouth, and Princeton. She was rejected by the other 5 of her top choices. She's pretty devastated, because she's left now with chosing from her safety schools, and she's just not that excited about them. In Princeton's decisions letter, they say "No additional information is required for your application. Everything we need is already in your file.". Given this instruction, should she send a LOCI to Princeton?
Would you be able to share about getting off NYU’s nursing college waitlist? Their yield isn’t super high, likely due to poor finial aid, so I’m hoping to get in thanks!
I really really want to thank you and your channel for all your amazing videos on SAT and ACT prep, CA and supplemental essays, extracurricular profile and more. Those were a ton of help for the past 2 years preparing to apply to the US for me and significantly helped me get at least a starting point to work out all the different segments of my application. . I got in ED to UVA and that was the top school in my list! Thanks a lot to you once again!
waitlisted at Santa Clara, George Washington, American University, Worcester Polytechnical Institute, and University of Pittsburgh. really hope something good happens
BROOKE I GOT INTO STANFORD (and 5 ivies!!!!!) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! I am so so so happy. Any chance I have a way to connect to learn more about Stanford? I’m seriously torn with my decision.
Would you plz share how did you do it like your grades,ECs,etc.. I wanna get in Stanford, plz help me what should I do to get in there... Plz plz plz help me, would be very grateful....
Do you know the percentage of acceptance at Columbia from the waitlist? I have also been waitlisted at Columbia. I was waitlisted by Columbia, and trying my best to show that I am 100% committed to them. I was wondering if you, by any chance, check the LOCI? If Yes, how can I reach you? Thank you a lot! All of your videos are so meaningful and helpful!
UC Berkeley’s waitlist acceptance rate shouldn’t be that low anymore because the California state legislature passed a bill to prevent the lawsuit from taking effect on admissions. UC Berkeley even put out a statement saying that they will admit their “normal” number of applicants after the bill was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom. I’m currently waitlisted at UC Berkeley and the number showcased in this video Can worry other students who are waitlisted even though it most likely isn’t accurate. Could you update the information somehow?
Manuel-- so sorry for this oversight! We filmed a few weeks ago. I did trim out some of the story so as to avoid some confusion (it will take effect in the next few hours), but unfortunately we can only trim, not correct or add. I'm still not convinced we'll be back at 30% admit rates off the waitlist this year as last year's percentage was low (and my guess is bc they have the authority they will extend maximum offers ASAP before the situation changes again)-- but at least I can trim out the part that may be confusing news story wise.
@@SupertutorTV thank you for responding to my comment! I understand that the waitlist acceptance rate may not be as high as prior years but do you have an idea of what the acceptance rate could be for this years waitlist pool?
@@ManuelGomez-xy6ph I would predict it's one way or the other-- either 5% like last year bc they push to admit as many students as possible right now as they know the legal fight isn't 100% over yet OR back to 30% business as usual. Not sure. Given the circumstances I would say this one is really unpredictable. But definitely write a LOCI!!
Does anyone know the percentage of acceptance at Columbia from the waitlist? I have also been waitlisted at Columbia. Hey. I tried to look for information concerning Columbia University waitlist. I didn't find any information regarding the waitlist. I was also waitlisted
Thanks for the video it gave me a lot of hope! I got into Johns Hopkins and waitlisted at Columbia - Columbia was my top choice so I’m hoping for the best! Thank uuu

I got waitlisted as a transfer at UCLA. I was both happy and devastated. Happy because I was given a second chance to get in…sad because of more stress. Edit: I got accepted as a transfer for pre sociology at UCLA!!! I committed and now I am an official Bruin!!! #bruinbound
I was waitlisted at Yale, but for a graduate music program (not in the undergrad pool). Do I still have no chance? I was told in the letter that the waitlist is very small and a fair number of alternates are admitted.
I got waitlisted Cornell engineering but they sent me an email with some stuff from their website about not to send loci and updates. My friend didn’t get this email for some reason. What’s my chances to get off the waitlist if I can’t send in loci and so many other waitlisted people? If someone from my school turns down Cornell engineering does that open up a spot for me if they look at it school by school?
Same here. Waitlisted by UCSD. It seems like they don't need LOCI because they don't want to be flooded with thousands of LOCI. Just clicked to Opt in and wait.

@@PradipBasnet yeah I have no idea, Columbia doesn’t release their common data set. They must waitlist the same number of students as other ivies, not more, but it does seem like they accept a fair amount of students who are waitlisted
My son have been accepted in Arizona state university and university of Wisconsin-Madison. But waitlisted in university of Illinois Urbana -Champaign. We really want him to go UIUC but for now we have accepted UWM. My question to you is which one of these 3 universities is best for Computer Science? If he doesn’t get accepted in UIUC what would be the best choice for CS? Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video Brooke! The data of the blog is really helpful for people. However, I'm mostly waitlisted by small LACs. Do you have any info on their Waitlist Acceptance?
We didn’t necessarily source all of that but there are some liberal arts colleges on the list I believe. You can look up the data by searching common data set and the name of the school. Some of the data is harder to find especially the last year or two if the common data set isn’t up-to-date.
Would it still be beneficial to send a loci even if the colleges have expressed they don’t consider them? Cornell sent emails explicit asking us not to send them, but all the research I’ve done has recommended sending these letters anyway. What should I do?
In these situations, if you have significant UPDATES: a new score, new grades, awards etc. email the admissions office and say I have some updates, can you add these to my file, or can I update these in the online student portal somewhere? ETc. Then you're writing but it's not this "essay" so to speak, but still asking etc. if it's possible to update the information. If they say something less decisive i.e. "we have everything we need" or "You don't need to" I still send a short something. If they say "please do not contact us" I only will ask about updates and if they can be added but these should be specific etc.
Hello Brooke! Do you think the chances and opportunities of students who were born in Russia and have a Russian passport getting into top universities have significantly decreased after to the current political situation? Will colleges start to accept a lot less Russians or generally just not give them much of a chance? One of my friends who is a Russian has apparently received a letter from Yale with them recommending him to “consider another college’. Thank you🙏🏻
@@brookifyd I've been studying in the UK for around 8 years and have been planning all along to move onto the US. I’m going to apply this December. Hopefully things get better then.
I got waitlisted at Harvard 😭 and I literally don’t know what to do besides the LOKI 😭 also when waitlisted and then denied is it possible to get in through transferring?
You can always transfer after the first or second year after being rejected the first time! However, Harvard is much more difficult to get in as a transfer student than it is for a first year student. You can always give it a shot, but if you don't get accepted as a transfer student, you can apply for their graduate program which is easier to get into!
If I register for another school that I got accepted to on May 2 while waiting on a wait list for another school , do they take my payment fully once I withdrawal from the school I registered to? Thank you for your excellent videos
@@peters616 thats what most of them say, but they may let u know earlier. I was just curious about the chances of getting off them (Emory specifically 🙏)
@@peters616 thank you so much thats very kind!! And I have the best hopes for your son (wether he finds his college home at Oberlin or somewhere else) ❤️❤️

My father keeps urging me to add a drawing of myself wearing a t-shirt for the college I want to go to in my LOCI after being waitlisted. Could something like this help my chances, or just be seen as annoying?
