I use to love this movie. I think I stopped liking the story when I realized the real victim was the cheating doctors wife.

The real victim was the writer/director who got murdered by an intruder before she could see her own movie in the theaters.

I don't know if there ever is just one "real victim", but in the sense that the doctor's wife is being seriously wronged the movie definitely agrees with you. It's the main reason Jenna gives when she ends the affair.
