I guess it boils down to the photography genre. Street vs portraits vs landscape , etc... Then again it's part of the process of mindful analog photography to decide on the "flavour of the day", then use the camera that suits it. The joy is also in adapting to situations... For example, you meant to take portraits of people at the fairgrounds with the rolleiflex, then an opportunity to take a "decisive moment" street shot... To use the rolleiflex or not? To mull over not bringing the leica or not?

First, Those are all great photos. That family with the mom and 2 kids, is really good. But they are all nice images. I completely agree on the 12 exp vs 36 exp issue. I also shoot 6x7 (Fuji GF670) for the format and only 10 images/roll. And I totally love the medium format for the detail afforded in the image. It's a great format. I get around the 36 exp/roll issue by bulk loading much of my film (35mm obviously). I'll load only 20 exp in most of my cartridges. I'll even load a bunch of rolls with only 10 exp and save those for testing a new lens or camera. I just landed on your channel, gotta check out your other sites.

The grain is what I like about film .Didital is ok but I prefer film.

Yes ; the 220 film is so smooth , and in my Rollei 10 blade TESSAR 75mm 3.5 the detail is fantastic , yet fall off and vignette is superb. The 55mm DISTAGON F4 is sharp , bitingly sharp however retains the composure of fine film , whether using the EKTAR 100 or Portra 160 . It takes more time and you compose more carefully shooting a ROLLEI than squirting off 35mm exposures in say an F3 NIKON or even the MA or M3 Leica. Medium Format with a good TLR is a dream and yes people do not walk away , they walk to you as the twin lens draws them in with a smile.

Kenneth: I carried my Wide Rollei TLR , and my Leica's (2 ) in my Domke bag last outing. I always try to mix it up a bit.

Good advice Ken! I have the M3 and M4, between the Leica and Rolleiflex, the Rolleiflex will cost less and the quality of the image is superior. I have the Rolleiflex 3.5 Automat and Rolleiflex 2.8D, and between the two Rolleiflex and a Leica. The cost of the two Rolleiflexes with a CLA was less than I paid for one Leica and a lens. I still love my Leica, they are great for quick point and shoot. Honestly, I find myself shooting a 50mm in 35mm and 80mm ish in medium format about 90% of the time.

Hello Kenneth, I sold the summicron of my M3 and bought an Contax to Leica M adapter, and now I use two lenses on my M3: a Zeiss Sonnar 55mm and a Helios 103 53mm. Both are much better than the Summicron, and have respectively a great bokeh and sharpness even at f2.

I love the grain in B&W film. It’s like looking at a painting and appreciating the brush strokes. No grain, no brush strokes? Too clinical, almost artificial.
