A childhood friend died of Covid and she asked that instead of flowers that we donate to Trump's re-election campaign. She defended Trump's handling of the pandemic and stated she and her family did not blame Trump for the spread of Covid that killed her sister. She blamed Obama and the Chinese. So all we could do was offer condolences. Some Trump fans bragged of donating. I lost three relatives to Covid and am a know split party ticket voter. When I announced my family deaths to friends, all I did was asked they were masks, practice social distancing, frequently wash hands and use hand sanitizer, to disinfect services and follow other CDC guidelines to better protect themselves and their loved ones...friends that are Trump fans attacked me. A few of the anti-vaxxers attacked me too because they feel the masks fall into the same category as unhealthy intrusion of the government into our freedom and health. The Trump administration has emboldened a level of bullying, lack of social grace, and compassion or empathy for other humans at a level I did not think we as citizens could sink to. Sadly, bigly, here we are.

Republicans like George Will and those in the Lincoln Project should just jettison the Republican Party and start a new "Conservative Party" to uphold their ideas of Republicanism and not rely on the old fascist tainted GOP.
