I think old girl deserves a restoration. She's worked so hard for longer than most people watching this have been alive. She deserves to be pampered for once.
Had 1964 2 axle, same body and 335. Ugly pile when purchased. It was totally gone through and turned out nice. Guy I sold it to wrecked it. It worked with the big boys every day. Had a 10 x 4 setup. No hill too steep. Mine barely left a vapor trail, even under load. Old truckers knew it was a 335 just by the sound. My brake was backwards too. If you give it paint and polish, it will get some attention.
@@weird1600 symbolic of effection. Very big silver necklace on this lady. Somewhat flashy tho. No one can say they didn't see it coming tho. ! The United States of America is the bench mark of quality
Memories, my dad had a ford cab over with I think this engine. Non turbo when I was a kid even a child. Early on in my life he grabbed this up engine was jammed. Ny grandmom aided him in getting it in towning I think with pickup. It was modded as a yard truck lost 1 drive axle and bolted or welded a hand crank winch as to a lift for engines and such. The days it ran in the yard alot as compressed air for tools n such.
Gets those Jakes fixed!! Old Cummins like this sounds awesome! Rumbling popping Jakes these old Cummins got... also it’s a cummins it’s gonna roll coal
335 Cummins was the the shiznit in those days!! If it was right it was hard to beat!! Only downfall it didn't come with an after cooler!!! Had it come with that, it could make a CAT run for cover!!!!!
Hot diggedy dog! the horn button says Ross Cam& Lever and the fat steering wheel! and a Cumalong engine and twin sticks. All you need now is some mountains and saw logs!
Thanks for the video. When your idling its best to leave the brownie in gear, when it sits and slowly rotates it’s not spinning fast enough to carry oil to the top of the box and the bearings run dry. Or you can leave the primary in gear and it will spin fast enough to oil everything. Never both in neutral while idling.
I don't know if the newer Pete's are known for leaky windshields, but the older ones were. Use to haul Foundry Molds with a guy who drove an older Pete. He kept telling the owner about it & it was leaking on the fuse panel & kept writing it up. It quit one day while he was driving it, he left that truck rite where it stopped. He said I will never ever drive another Pete.
She's a bit of brute when you hear it run, but it does run good and she barks like it really wants to go down the road. I like the crackle when it responds to the throttle. Need to get this thing out and load some logs. Will be good when there is some work for it to do. Nick, North West Farmer
Push to engage the emergency brakes makes sense-thats why they changed it.'t.that's the ';duel truck.if 'm not mistaken.' Lot cheaper to run and maintain, when Satan"s,footin the bill.
@@tttco I'd have to listen to it again but if you don't think it's releasing compression on all cylinders some of the collars are problem broken off the exhaust pushtubes.
You know I will do that. I have some videos of starting the log loader and operating it. Right now the engine is tore apart and in the process of putting it back together. When it's back together i will make a quality video on starting each piece of equipment and how to operate and use/drive each piece of equipment I own plus some i have bought and not yet showed on RU-vid ;)
If you put a second battery in that truck it can start right up like it should. A truck as big as yours should always have 2 batteries in it. Also put that truck to work! It ain’t making any money just sitting in your driveway!
@@fepasarussa8642 well I’m glad you also Appreciate the truck as much as I do. It’s my pleasure to post videos on it! I hope that someday you’re able to follow your dreams and passions and also purchased a truck like this. They are a lot of fun and you meet a lot of cool people with the old trucks
@@Ma_Deuce_338 I have no plans of pulling out this cummins... However I do like old 2 strokes and wouldn't mind buying a old dump truck with one in it.
T&F Logging and land management LLC About 40 years ago I ran a Mack with a 318 and a 5 & 4... it’s saving grace was that it was progressive. Your Pete would be the coolest loader in the woods with a little love. “Love” is a tough one these days. Hard to find the coin or the time now! Have a profitable safe season!
No it was a bunch of dirt.... Definitely looked like oil in the camera. But it was dirt. When I bought it it had straight water in it. And had a lot of debris in the coolant system. I flushed it out but did not get it all. It has no coolant in the oil and it can run without the radiator cap with no bubbles.
5x4 my friend... 5th is all the way over to the drivers side and up against the dash... Its weird... I believe the old timers called it the flying 5th??
there were a lot of different shift patterns in those days. seemed every transmission manufacturer had their own shift pattern I drove an old International first was to the driver, 2nd was a U turn . 1 2 4 R 3 5 I think it was a Clark transmission
