One of the best synths of all time. I've had a couple of XT-30s and an XTk-10. I miss all of them. The Q was nice too. There are some nice sounding digital synths these days, but the XTs were quite magical.
I now need to convince my wife we need a new microwave and mixer! 😂 can these companies keep naming synths based off kitchen appliances?? Maybe Blender? Freezer?
An amazing synth, but the true (possibly generally unknown) power of the microwave is in its modulation matrix and mathematical function modifiers section which makes the modulation capabilities Endless Endless. I just wish it had a 3rd proper LFO (you can make an lfo-like modulator using the free EG but it's not midi clock syncable as far as I'm aware)
I love him sooo much the XTK. If i want to produce powerful trance or go up in space :) he gives the power. The much different vibes are amazing and clear. 💕💕💕WALDORF 💕💕💕FAT XTK 💕💕💕
I have the rack version of XT. You sitting there and enjoying i nice pad with pink heart shaped fluffy clouds and unicorns coming from the speakers. All is love. All is nice and safe. You do a little wavetable modulation, mayby to much or to deep into the wavetable, and suddenly you find yourself knocked out on the floor with your nose and ears bleeding. And you love it. That´s Microwave XT! :-)
03:00 The way why it sounds strange and atonal at that point is because you have FM enabled for osc 1 ( so it's frequency modulated by osc 2 ) AND the same time you have osc 2 set to sync So this means that osc 1 frequency is modulated by osc 2 who's frequency is REset by osc 1( a bit like a snake eating it's own tail ) , these two parameters in tandem create havoc and atonality instantly . I never understood why some implemented it this way , Waldorf is not the only one , so was the jupiter 8 , even clavia Nord lead 2 A much better implementation is so that the fm carrier is the Sync slave and NOT the sync master , like on the prophet 5 , jupiter 6 , etc..
Man, this machine brings me back. Very much got that Waldorf digital sound. :) (Also, I can't be the only one who at 7.08 started humming "Autobahn") :D
I had one of these. Could never really get into it, It just sat there covered so it wouldn't get dusty. Let go on ebay last year, it went so fast. Apparently people love it.
Matt·Dylan Well have there been any digital vst’s that they did double blind testing with versus the analog they’re emulating and people couldn’t tell the difference better than random? Because to me that means there really is no difference.
@Килобемоль / Kilobemol no way, i did my thesis on comparing roland cloud's juno 106 against a real one and the patches had the same flavor but didnt have the deepness and punch of the real thing (especially not over the whole octave range), difference were are also really visible with an oscilloscope where the original had much distinct waveforms with more movement going on. also the roland cloud plugins are cpu hogs, running more than 3 on a quadcore made them just pop and crack
I think I’m coming away from this video with a clearer understanding of how Wolfgang’s wavetable system functions, at least from a listening point of view. I’m curious. What’s your take on the Blofeld, Doc?
Been waiting for this video! ever since I saw the xtk a couple episodes back. I've always wanted an "microwave XT" especially when I saw a picture of the group "coil" and their Studio back in the mid-to-late 90's, and they had a "microwave XT". Wavetable synthesis with all those knobs.. how can you beat that!?🎹🎧💫😵👌👍✌
Filter sweeps after 4:00 remind me of the Power Filter in Omnisphere, originally designed by G Force Software (dave spiers) for the the impOSCar vst. Sounds very simillar! Lots of resonance but still lots of bottom end.
@@rodneygipson4055 - Nice man! Yes all MW that the system is Ver #3 will take the upgrade; however, ver 1 and 2 won’t. Something important before you buy a Microwave or buy the upgrade for it which is not cheap though, about $500 USD but it will increase the value of the synthesizer lots.
Love the Wavetable-Synthesis of the Waldorf-Synths... I never owned one, but the Waldof-Booth always was the first place I visited on every Frankfurt Music Fair in the early 2000s (besides Access ;) ) - Gave me a lot of angry looks of other people who wanted to get their hands on thhose babies when i blocked them for an hour or so *ggg*
Hi i have a question did this waldorf xt synth keyboard also have similair sounds as the waldorf puls and microwave ?when it is i want to ordered this one
Isn't it about time you did some Depeche Mode? Seems a bit strange you don't. It's like you skate around them. Just Can't Get Enough. Policy Of Truth. Enjoy The Silence. To name but a few. I appreciate they may not be your cup of tea, but I think if you start deconstructing them and reconstructing, you will appreciate how good they are.
this must be what they cook the food in at hootlers Glad I never went there or if nickalodian made a synth I know if apple made one it would look like a giant piece of macaroni and yellow or clear blue lol
wow!!! this amazing really ,like race to the past in our gold time of trully things that made with the soul) , you know what i am mean), sorry for my english),
