I haven't seen any news of this so called "contest". And why is his colour even news? The news mention it. The first thing he says is about his colour. Why do we need to be proud of his colour? Who cares?! The last thing we need is a labour government, just like the last thing we need is another conservative one. We need someone who will put UK people first above absolutelt everything else. Neither mainstream party does.

The people of all colours in Wales have had enough of the Governments. Doesn't mean we are racist for saying we didn't vote for this guy. Why couldn't a working class African have a role instead of a rich guy who has never had a taste of reality in the real world. It doesn't go by skin colour To be a part of Britain but by the understanding and respect we must have for each other and to live a peaceful life. If taxes were not being paid to these rich government members your wages would probably double per hour.

From outside of Wales it looked like Mark Drakeford was doing a good job. He introduced more socialist policies into Wales that were better for the majority of people, not self-interested small groups. He is compassionate, and that showed.
@@dannyuk1523 The point I was making wasn't that he has more in common with Welsh people than other politicians, it's that being half black doesn't automatically make him out of touch, which is what I saw to be implied by your comment. I'm not sure if him mentioning his race was optimal but given how much of this comment section seems to be frothing at the mouth about how Wales is fallen and how the governing party in Westminster has been doing its best to defend a donor who said that a black MP should be shot and made him want to hate all black women, I can see how he thought his election as the first black leader of a European country might be important. This is more related to your first comment but if you think progressives are useless, then remember that, within many people's lifetimes, women couldn't open bank accounts independently and homosexuality was illegal. Spoiler alert: the progress we have made in societal attitudes wasn't because of conservates.
Europe as a whole is lost , sadly, and so is the west, and this is thanks to our do-gooders politicians and thanks to our best immigration policies. The West and Europe will soon become an islamic continent.

@@jaexiusnem1267 Sounds pretty Welsh to me; I don't see the issue. I'm Australian, born into a country with a majority of immigrants and their descendants. In 135 years, we have yet to have an indigenous head of government (or head of state) - although I certainly wouldn't be against it.

No one can say the Welsh Government are not following the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion doctrine. A gay man is out voted by a black man to become First Minister of Wales and is declared the winner by a woman with purple hair.

If a white guy gets in power somewhere then you know he either jumped the hurdles necessary, or if he didn't, will be criticised according to his actions only. No such guarantee with women or minorities; there will always be people that give them the benefit of the doubt for what they look like.
