This was a spanking, and that drop goal from Anscombe at the end just broke the Aussies' spirit completely. Brilliant performance from the Welsh. Congratulations. From 🇿🇦
The drop goal is pretty much just to rub salt in the wound for any Australian fan who watched the 2003 world cup final. I think I saw the All Blacks kick a drop goal in like the 2015 world cup just to mess with the aussies. It's also a pretty decent option though just for getting points.
Man, here’s me thinking this would be an arm wrestle. Considering the state Welsh rugby was in over the last couple years, Gatland has done a great job getting Wales back in shape when it matters most. From an England fan that was a perfect performance from Wales 👏
You know where he from .the mighty Waikato. Nz lol same as Joe Schmidt who got ireland going good also from Waikato. Dave Rennie also . Ian foster is aswell but he's a bit of a 50 50
Plenty of English chaps called Gareth, son. Just like there's plenty of Welsh boys called Steve. What's your point? We're a pokey little sheep-infested island. We have to share stuff sometimes.
This is the first time in RWC history that all four Rugby Championship teams have lost a pool stage match. First time in RWC history in where all four pool stage winners (most likely) will be from the Northern Hemisphere. First time in RWC history that Australia (barring a very unlikely turn of events) fail to qualify for the knockout stages. We look to be entering a new era in the international game.
From a South African, well done Wales with your excellent victory, your team seems to be peaking at the right time. Bad luck Oz, this definitely isn't your year. World Cup quarterfinals won't be the same without the Wallabies.
Well played Wales. I especially liked how you started steady, and deliberate. Inched forward incrementally, then unleashed the power. Well done coach Gatland. You see into the soul of welsh players. Sorry Eddie your time has passed
Actually Rennie was doing well, a couple of close losses to big teams like France and Ireland made his stats look far worse then they actually were. The only reason they lost by a point to Italy was that Donaldson missed a conversion that an under 16 schoolboy regularly puts over. The sacking of Rennie by Hamish McLennan was devastating for the continuity and morale of the Wallabies rebuilding project. McLennan is the real architect of this disaster.
@@swada02 the sport is struggling in Australia thanks to the ARU. Any talent gets poached by NRL and union isn't even televised anymore on free to air.
Our game management this was much better here against Fiji to be fair. Fiji would have never come this close to Wales if we put a full 80 minute shift in
I was not really a rugby fan but now I'm hooked. I can even have a conversation with my mates and talk all things rugby I'm actually surprised at myself and it feels great
@@rhyd1109 Oh Yes ,the chip from Gareth Anscome to Hadley Parks, I knew then the game was ours and so was the Grand Slam that was in the first 2 mins in to the game
I was thinking exactly the same. We’ve had our good moments since then but this was quite possibly the most unexpected result and performance in many years 🏴
I don’t understand it. For England he had the opposite problem only persevering with the bigger names in the squad. Why would you leave the experience of Hooper and Cooper at home 💀
It’s not a selection issue. Eddie’s whole game plan is rubbish, his style of positionless rugby renders a young team unable to understand structure and discipline. Veteran players wouldn’t have made a difference.
Hooper was injured, was underperforming all year. Smaller, slower, weaker and still not offering any lineout or ruck presence. Cooper was just getting ragdolled and making errors. His goal kicking was decent enough though, and it's not like Gordon or Donaldson played any better than him 🤷 I think Lolesio was essential for this world cup. Very average player but knows how to operate a backline with Nic White and Fines-Leleiwasa.
Because with rugby union dying in Australia, all the talented players leave Australia and go overseas. With NZ only able to play Australia in super rugby, the good NZ players have to do the same. Rugby dying in Australia means it dying in NZ as well.
@@Gener1KGamingfor this reason I think we're seeing the impacts of excluding SA from Super. I think we need SANZAR back, but not at the expense of Drua and Moana.
South Africa left the Super League because the time differences and flight distances destroyed players. SA is on the same time zone as Europe and flying into Europe is so easy, no jet lag.
So many things to admire in the Welsh performance, but for me, keeping the Aussies from scoring in the last movement of the game, with the result already in the bag, said it all.
TBH I probably cheered louder for that than any other moment. 40-13 would still have been an epic thumping, but Wales wouldn't let Aus spoil the party even that one tiny bit. "Frankly, we're pretty annoyed about the 6. You shall NOT pass." You have to love that.
Wales were fantastic!! It’s not just that the Aussies were that bad, if they’d got back into it at the start it could have been a very different game. Wales were just ruthless and totally dominated every aspect of the game, fighting for every ball. They just weren’t going to let the Aussies get a sniff of the game. Absolutely outstanding performance from Wales. Totally deserved after all the hard work that they’ve put in with Warren Gatland. Congratulations🏴🏴🏴
I came here to say the same thing! Wales scrum was the highlight of the tournament so far for me. Goal kicker was sharp. Creativity on attack and just destroyed the Wallabies unfortunately for them. I’m a kiwi so I know how the Aussies are feeling lol. Could very well be a northern hemisphere World Cup final. To be fair, I’m part of the very spoiled for wins All Blacks success era. I think it’s about time Rugby had a shake up!
Eda Sa Qaqa- we have overcome! From me to you, from a welsh fan to a Fijian fan. We were always cool. I serve in the British Army and we have many Fijians serving with us. Vinaka my friend! We are bound together with more than just rugby ❤ we are allies, buddies, two nations, 1 military.
And from a Fijian fan...let's not count our chickens yet Fiji. We still have to beat Georgia and Portugal before we can be sure of qualifying for the QF. Congratulations Wales. Tough luck Australia. You will be back
@@napsboseiwaqa5268 if you play like you did against Wales, I don’t see why you guys can’t get a quarter final. You guys got this, you have one of the best back rows in the world, fast, strong fella’s who once warmed up and on their game, are unstoppable 👌👌
This was an epic match to be at, it's now Wednesday and I'm still coming down from it 🤣🤣🤣 Very proud of our boys, a great win to celebrate but can't get too excited, tough games lay ahead 🙌
I remember seeing Richie Barnett and Daryl Halligan on Sports Cafe (NZ tv sports show) and Barnett was asked ...."what does it take for a NRL team to be successful?".... Barnett's reply was ...."if you do not get it right in the front office you are not going to get it right on the field!".... I found that rather profound and astute coming from a ex-rugby league star! Watching Australia go down like this I believe is an indicator that there is a lot more at play than what we saw on the field! I hope Australia can come back from this because as a kiwi we need Australia rugby to be strong again!
Every player on that pictch for Australia wanted the win ! We have the same with the England team ! I believe both countries have the talent! But both don't have the right manager ! You took Eddie after we dropped him .. we took Borthwick !! As he has managed Leicester for one season 😂. Eddie only looked good for England when half the team were playing for Saracens! They knew each others running lines ! So it was easy for Eddie ..
Big congratulations to Wales. They’ve had a tough build up, but Gatland knows how to play World Cup rugby. I was sceptical when they brought him back, but the results seem to prove it was a good decision.
Well done my team,You have done your nation proud most of all you have done your selves proud, I am at this moment a very happy Welshman . It's not like an Autumn international game ,it's the world cup ,we haven't had score like this against Australia since the 1970's. I was over the moon when Warren Gatland came back to us and now it's going to pay off. To be honest I see Australia a big southern hemisphere giant and they were going to be tough, I don't know what happen to them today, a lot of mistakes which gave us the penalties. I hope that Dan and Louis R-Z are ok, Gareth Anscome had a good game even with his injury missed 2 kicks but what a drop goal well played Gareth. Nick Tompkins had an amazing game and a good try well done Nick.and the first try less than 3 mins in from Gareth Davies well played Gareth. All I can say is What a game, Diolch , Da Iawn !🏉👍
That, ladies and gentlemen, was a thumping. Guess that gives me a little bit of hope for Portugal's chances against Australia. How "cruel" of Wales 😉😉😁❤
Too many people are accusing Eddie Jones for something he's only partially guilty of. He couldn't chage Australia in a cup winning team in a month The roots of the problems, from what I've read, go deeper
@@steviegoy8830 Touché. South Africa has a chance to be in the finals, but the probability is not as much in South Africa's favour compared to the past.
Masterful display and performance by the Welsh team, an undisciplined game from the Australians again, it would benefit the viewer if the leadups to those penalties would be included. 👍😁
Aus are hosting the next World Cup. I feel like we’ve just witnessed the lowest of low for them, and they might build something special over the next four years
@@user-gs4tn9pe6m Too right lad. Get out of super rugby with NZ - too good for us. Better to pump Eddie's salary into club rugby and school rugby. Shute shield vs Storelocal Hospital cup winners for grand final. Have pride in your local club not just wallabies or super rugby teams.
Great Game Wales. It was inevitable. I knew when Campese and SBW criticised Eddie Jones ability. They were not wrong. Maybe the Aussie board and all their advisers sacked with him. The ship has gone down and maybe, the board who are the captain's, should go down too.
A completely dominant and rounded performance from Wales. One of the best I’ve seen in years. Commiserations Australia. Most teams go through rough patches. Time to rebuild. You will be back.
I remember back when the Wallabies were a force to be reckoned with. It all started to take a nosedive after the way they treated Israel Falau just for having an opinion. Terrible looking side, shambolic performance. Michael Hooper, we miss you bro! Welsh fans don't forget to head to the pubs early...with your new 20 mph speed limit, it might take some time 😂
It is funny watching the NZ players from yesteryear, who were over looked and rejected by the All Black being turned into the the Superstars of this world cup. Garth Anscombe, James Low, Gibbson-Park, Bundesliga Aki. All guys that NZ rugby never gave a chance. All of them seeming to have longer careers than most All Blacks ever have.
Well there were far better players in 'yesteryear',there's always been fine players who don't make the cut, going back many decades, its unlikely Gibson Park,James Low,,Gareth Anscombe would make it even now.
That ref was awful, the plate of Garlic Snails before the game were off, the crowd were against us, the TMO was biased, the weather in Lyon was terrible, Oh F**k it we just sucked.
Great job by Wales excellent game by them. They basically handed Fiji the QF opportunity on a silver platter..almost as if to make up for the game they had with them in round 1. Now all Fiji gotta do is just win their last two matches and we'll see how that goes As for the Wallabies this was just a tragedy. Its not just a team issue but that it is a sporting issue too. Australian Rugby Union gotta systematically review the state of their sport which is on the decline there and thus match doesnt scream Red Flag🚩to them...i dont what will
Absolutely true not coincidental as a xstian there was always going to be ramifications sheer arrogance from the top they don't learn from history no more needs to be said I feel for the players and the game it's the system that has a lot to answer for it has failed terribly but will they admit it ,remains to be seen 🤔
Wow, the improvement in Wales even over the last couple of months is very impressive, they look like a completely different team from the warm up games. Unbelievable that the Aussies have crashed out in the group stage for the first time. Despite the name I am an Englishman (although I have Scottish and Welsh ancestry and do support the other home nations at the world cup) I even supported Australia in the 1991 Word Cup as I had spent the previous year living over there. England all the way nowadays though......even though I doubt they will manage a semi final appearance this time round.
Please. I should not have to precise it normally but... stop to spoil the result in the titles of your videos.. jesus ! is not that completely obvious ??
