I recall reading about how he made up a backstory based on his obsession with Egyptian culture as he didn't blend in with his family and felt he wasn't "very French". Turns out he _is_ Egyptian when he was revealed to be born out of wedlock to an Egyptian father. *Top 10 craziest anime plot twists*
