In this video we do a walk around of our newer 4wd Legacy XL tractor. We show some details we have learned in our short time with the tractor so far, along with some of the issues we have found with it and how we overcame them. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Getting out of 4wd it's always easier to go in reverse for even a foot or two and then shift to 2wd. I'm no mechanic but grew up on tractors and something about when the 4x4 is engaged and you stop it's still under pressure or locked in or whatever and going backwards just kind of releases everything. Probably way off but my Kubota is a 40hp and same thing taking it out of 4wd.

I have 2. Both are hard to get out of 4wd. I drive forward- let off and then shift simultaneously. BTW, I recognize the dealer sticker. I got my 2nd there, 1st one from the other dealership they acquired up the road. These things are like tanks.

Thanks for watching! Thanks for the suggestion, we will try that. And yes, they are like tanks for their size.

They do not make these anymore and i don't know why, especially since the sub compact is getting popular with other brands, also i think the tires might have beet juice in them, an alternative to prevent rim rust

It is possible it could be beet juice, thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for watching.

Enjoyed your video. Back in 2004 I bought a new Legacy XL 4x4 with the Kawasaki 27 HP liquid cooled engine. I mostly use it to move snow in the winter. Traction is quite good with the more aggressive tires. Never had a lick of trouble with the machine. It came with the 60 in pressed deck and three-point hitch. I also purchased the front blade for winter use. Most of the hours on the machine have been plowing snow. The 60-inch deck is tucked away in one of the outbuildings. I only cut grass with it a few times. It is hard to beat the cut of a simplicity floating deck. I use my cub cadet garden tractor with a 50 in deck to cut the lawn. It does a decent job, and I can mulch with it. If I remember correctly, the Legacy XL has around 400 hours on it. Still looks like new. Always kept inside and kept clean. I even have a cover for it when it is not in use. Changed the trans axle fluid and filter 2 times and engine oil every fall. I even changed the radiator fluid a few years ago. I keep up on regular maintenance on all my outdoor equipment. I am retired so things like that give me something to do. Love how quiet and smooth the Kawasaki engine is. No matter how cold it is, it starts right up. Oh yes, I did have to replace the battery last year. I keep a battery tender on it when not in use. I got 16 years out of the original battery. Can't complain about that. Wish you the best of luck with your Simplicity machines. Be safe and have a blessed summer.

Thank you for watching our video. We agree about the traction with the more aggressive tires. These Legacy's are great tractors, as with the other models of Simplicity's we have. That is awesome that you got 16 years of service out of the original battery!

How much did you pay?

The tractor and the loader were purchased at different times. The tractor was purchased used and the loader was purchased new 5 years ago, the total is less than $8K if my memory is remembering prices correctly of each. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
