Thanks for that! Yeah, Dave Nicholson always had these cool, little conceptual gems. I was trying to speed talk because there was so much more I wanted say in the time we had. Cool experience for sure!
I really appreciate the complimentary nod. Thank you for that 🙏🏾. Now I'm trying trying to suss out who you are, as your page & profile is quite inconspicuous lol 😅😂😊!!!
Pay attention: we all have Qi = bio electrical energy that keeps us alive. Learn any internal style well and you will develop Jin = what most call internal/intrinsic energy, From here various drills and forms develop both the Jin and the frame your doing. Next obviously is Fa Jin or release of force / explosive force. Now again drills and forms that you practice using fa Jin. Whole body is sung and anchored by the stance. The frame/posture is used by being compressed into the ground. Then you can quickly release that compressed force generated through ur weapon : fist , elbow, knees etc. It’s like putting water in a hose (length is subjective here) that has bends and twist in it. Snap that hose like a whip and release the water at the same time. That sudden rush of water hits hard and can reassert itself just like waves in the ocean. Back to the hose which functions in this example as the body from foot to chosen weapon. If the path is shorter you naturally can produce the same force that used to have a longer path to the opponent. The real skill is to manipulate one’s Jin to fit the circumstances as we will it. I might die before I get to that part. I’m 63 formerly started summer of 95’ joined Baltimore Tai Chi Chuan Study Association Founded by Dr. John Wan-Yuin Chang
I met Mike at the Tampa Bay Martial Arts Retreat. Disappointed to hear his stance on authentic Taiji (meaning Taiji isn’t authentic without Qi). Hopefully we will meet again in November and have a chat about it.
Same as my FB response to your same statement 🙏🏾 Steffan, 🤣, so I've been out & about today and wasn't able to properly respond to your complete misquote of my statements from the interview; in fact, if someone was to only read your statements and not view the interview for themselves they would be completely misguided by your declaration. Although it was a compound question, the part I directed my answer was to - "what's your take on Qi and Qigong and the usefulness of that kind of training" My response (summation): "...I don't discount the Qigong practice...I use it as part of my curriculum [in my university classes]" Next part of the question, "In terms of fighting, you don't think you can knock people over with Qi power...?" My response, jokingly: "oh - no, no I do it all the time..." More serious, sincere response: "No I don't believe in that at all, in that aspect...[speaking of knocking out someone with 'Qi powers']"! I then continued on with my viewpoints of the benefits of the practice. In addition, I will provide feedback from my actual class & students, which has been shared publicly to indicate there's no contradiction in my statement. Of course, it still stands that we can have a great convo on the subject in detail once we grace each other's presence! I respectfully look forward to hanging in your company 🙏🏾💯!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--eNUYhHGvTw.htmlsi=_3ZYGnouKPl9gmMp
