So, I have been a member of the church now for over 40 years. As a convert I was so impressed that the church stood valiantly for truth (well, that was 40 years ago). The policies have changed so dramatically in recent decades. I remember years ago you could not teach false doctrine or you would be counseled in private by your Bishop and if you continued to teach false doctrine you would be excommunicated. Period, end of story. Sadly those days are over and false doctrine has entered the church (especially out west). I consider myself very blessed to live in the south as we don't currently have these issues going on here.

We cannot keep quiet to spare the feelings of members promoting anti-Christ principles no matter how few or how many.

@@b1of4bs My son just returned home from serving his mission in the Orem, Utah mission. He was surprised by how liberal the saints are in Utah since he hasn't really been around that at home (we live in south Georgia). It was an eye opening experience for him, but he said it is mostly the younger age members who are woke.

You’re me, Jamie. I’ve thought this through myself, and I’ve already determined that this is NOT going to happen with me in the room. I just CAN’T sit there and worry about someone’s “feelings” when they’re teaching false doctrine or promoting this stuff that is SO directly opposed to the gospel. They’re doing it BECAUSE no one is speaking up. I stood up in Young Women for 6 years and repeated the YW Theme every Sunday and Wednesday- “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us and we love Him. WE WILL STAND AS WITNESSES OF GOD AT ALL TIMES AND IN ALL THINGS AND IN ALL PLACES”- and if I have to do that at CHURCH, I will. I shouldn’t HAVE to, but I will.

As a branch president, I'm also watching carefully for these things to make sure they don't creep into the branch. I taught a fifth lesson Sunday covering many changes in the handbook of instruction. I emphasized that this is the Lord's church and that it's purpose is to bring people to the highest degree in the Celestial Kingdom through the doctrine and ordinances of the gospel. Some may not want that. We want everyone to go there but some will choose not to. We should be kind to others but the doctrines, programs, teachings, and purpose of the church are to bring people to the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom that want to go there.

How can you blame the members when it is coming from the top. That people can't see that the church is leading the members that direction is astounding. BSA, BYU honor code change, support of Respect for Marriage Act, etc. Boiling frogs in a pot the TBMs can't feel the temperature change.

Possible with conservatives too, especially after they told us to be "good global citizens" in the face of totalitarian govt behavior and to get a dubious medical treatment

I hate drawing the political lines like that, but conservatives just simply don't have these Anti-christ teachings. None of us is perfect, but one side believes in the values that Christ set in place, and the other believes in changing those or are brainwashed into thinking progressivism, SJW stuff, etc is the more Christlike behavior. The wheat and tares are being separated and it's painful to watch.

Absolutely. Pres. Nelson is no slouch, but Pres. Oaks doesn't pull punches. Lots of these people hate Pres. Oaks. Faith Matters interviewed a gay member that is married to a man, and the comment section had people saying Pres. Oaks can "kiss their @$$". They know their time is limited and this awfulness may have space in the world, but it has no space within the Church.

I’m gay married to my amazing husband and I don’t feel like I fit in at RS because of the “God is love” (and nothing else) movement going on within the rank and file of RS sisters.

@@TheYgds Thank you. Honestly I feel discouraged at times. I love the pure doctrine of Christ and I love my Savior. I hate to see the wolves among the flock. I think because of my unique circumstances I observe these things a little earlier than other regular members. I try to warn people in my own way but the voices who oppose mine and others like me are so loud and are given all the “popular” LDS online platforms.

The scriptures, at times, are a double-edged sword.

I could care less what they think. If they want to whine and pout about truth that’s their problem. I’m not a babysitter.

These documents are not new doctrine. They are longstanding doctrine consolidated into concise and plain writings.

I would love to see that too. Usually, they don't do things like that until all the original signers have passed on but I think we need it sooner. Too many are trying to write it off and discount it.

It took a few gutsy people to actually SPEAK UP about those massively misrepresentative main street flags. True saints here are awesome peacemakers. However, when my wife was talking to people to ask them to get in front of the city council, it was VERY hard to get people to speak up and stop the lie that Heber is Park City. She did. I didn't, I worked for a super woke NYC company at the time and we agreed she'd represent us lest I endanger my job. She had some other bold women on her side. They got it done! Pray for the temple here. We need a stake in the ground! We are not Park City!

It always comes in stages and phases though. An inch at a time. The hippies set the stage for the "do as thou wilt" ideology. As relatively innocent as it was, in it's time it was just as radical to the accepted norms as the current hogwash is. We always think this is as afar as it will ever go, but each successive rebellion against norms and authority, no matter how slight, is going to reset the norms eventually, and become the new standard for youth to defy, in order to prove or assert their supposed "individuality". And there is always a spectrum in the new standards. The behavior around Haight Ashbury had already sunken much further than the average teenage rebellion. It was all-out 'do-your-own-thing' sex with anyone, drugs on demand and a "shove-the-job, we live for today" moorless push for letting it all hang out, and not surprisingly, made way for the Manson and his girls cult of murder, which embarrassed the hippie movement, so they let off the pedal a little, and took their cultural decline a bit slower for a season, then picked up again where they left off, at Woodstock. Not long after, the decline sped up, as if not moving in the wrong direction FAST ENOUGH was the new "problem with society", and you have "how does what I do in the privacy of my own bedroom, or life, hurt you?" relatively overnight becoming "What's so wrong with parading my sex life down the street in front of your children?" It's never enough. EVER. And it never will be. Once you establish the idea that "norms" are nothing but a stuffy, useless by-product of moral barbarianism, the intimidation of anyone with standards of any kind is a bygone conclusion to "celebrate", and such bigots should just accept their expiration date already. Next thing you know, screaming about women's "rights" while not being able to even define one, has already moved to men at risk of getting pregnant. The "slippery slope" happens before anyone knows for sure what it means.

We had a teacher released for saying LGBQT is an abomination. That’s what the Lord aid in the Bible. So what’s changed? Tolerance only goes so far. We hate the sins but not the sinners right? So why is that bad today?

These people will eventually sift themselves out of the truth. Our job is to speak up immediately in any situation and stand for truth and righteousness to protect the innocent. It is good if we have a script ready to make a stand so they can't manipulate you and make you look like an idiot on the spot. Have a script and short responses to pre thought out things they may say back. Create responses as though you are dealing with a toxic person because that is what they are and they know their behaviour and attitude is inappropriate and against church teachings... they are just hoping our good kind quiet nature will take over and let them spew rubbish.

The scriptures point out Christ will come to cleanse his temples.

On a positive note, local leadership released those individuals. That absolutely needs to happen. Prolly not a good thing the bishop let her bear her testimony, but likely just an olive branch move.

@@jeremybelinski7713Joseph smith routinely let others preach from his pulpit. But he always reserved the right to correct doctrine as he saw it. I see no issue with letting her exercise her agency as long as the bishop makes it clear then or later that the church does not condone that teaching.

sadly the tares have taken over and pushed us wheat out of the field because they want to be in charge ....i know many active strong testimony people going inactive in multiple states because going to church isnt learning the gospel anymore... i went through sacrament with no mention of Christ other then his name at the end of the prayers...i heard more about lgbt activisim and taylor swift then anything else

Out of interest I recently looked up what tares actually look like. Very similar to the different wheat plants but not wheat. When you actually look at the difference in the plants it makes the parable very clear.

I've been rereading this talk lately because, just as when it was given, today I feel like the listener will not hear that portion you cited, because they are rightfully focussed on the peacemaking side. Charity has to be the foundation, but we HAVE to stand for what is right, just as someone else is taking the liberty to stand for what is false. They will twist it into not being peaceful, but them bringing the false doctrine is what drives away peace. The challenge is to put aside the emotion and tendency to attack the individual while challenging the message.

@@TheBensMeister Their main pretense is that they cannot just leave the church and be "free" of the so called 'persecution' of their "identity" or whatever it is. They want to insist that the church "forces" them to attend and feel ridiculed for "being who thery are". The victimhood is preplanned, managed and perpetuated by their insistence that they can never be free of someone elses less-than-approving opinion of their desires, and that it can only be a one-way persecution relationship, which they didn't choose and can't escape from.

The full power of government and society is behind the Rainbow Alphabet agenda.... - it has not been fully bared yet - but it will be soon, and it's principle target is Christianity.

Most likely because they are a minority group in percentage of population, but with a majority of support in business and academia. The brethren have spoken out about it, but as seen in scripture the message goes away or lesson due to the hardness of hearts. Also, have you considered that because of the power this group of people have politically and what persecution will come? This group hates God and Chritianity. They want and have stated they goal is to destroy Chriatianity. They even joke about doing to us what the Romans did. To the point, they want us dead! Sometimes the Church, the organization, in order to survive has to go along with the enemy. They aren't curling their tail, excuse this visual, they have spoken again and again on this issue in the past with boldness, but people won't hear it because it was in the past. The Gospel doctrine does not change but too many think it can and does. However, the Church, the people, has to stand up in these personal battles or what Greg called conflicts.

Because for THIS category - all the power governments and nearly all of society is fully behind the Rainbow Alphabet group - and those agents of Govt (the same that stole the 2020 from DJT and will also steal 2024, and allowing millions to flood over the borders (or be flown directly into the USA)), those are nearly ready to strike and give America it's death blow, wrapping us into the UN. Once God tells the FP and Q15 to declare IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that the rainbow Alphabet is pure wickedness, both half the Church will stampeded out the doors, tithing will dry up, and The Govt WILL move to shut the Church down again... They did in it 1890, they threatened to strip away our 501c3 tax-exempt status in 1977-78).

What is wrong is we have some weak Bishops and Stake Presidents who can't stand any kind of conflict so they do not defend the doctrine of the church as valiantly as they should. Unfortunately some of our Bishops and Stake leaders don't even read the church handbook which is the guide on how to govern the wards and stakes.

Our ward had a discussion on temples- as well on the 5th Sunday- it was centered on how we can influence our children to love the temple

Our 5th Sunday discussion was also about Temples... but from the aspect of becoming a Temple Worker. They had several Temple Workers as a panel and we could ask questions of them. Many moments of feeling the Spirit.

I appreciate your comment. Jesus taught us to be peacemakers, yet he was willing to stand for truth amid conflict. His life does not epitomize tranquility, avoidance of conflict, or comfort in my mind. I think people misunderstand what peacemakers are. There can’t be any lasting peace without a people standing for truth. Neville Chamberlain would have let Hitler invade Western civilization in the name of “peace.”

These are not rabbit holes when the academics teach of this, spreading these philosophies to their students, which bleeds into every field of the workforce.

We have been instructed to teach/have discussions from General Conference talks. Is this not happening in your area? Not much fluff in those.

​@deborahalmoney4843 a few months ago in my RS, the sub teacher for the lesson decided she wanted to stretch the boundaries of the conference talk she was given and asked the Sunday school teacher "permission", which was her husband, instead of the RS Pres. And I know she made most of the RS feel uncomfortable, teaching stuff that was some of the "new" ways of viewing a teddy bear Jesus and other doctrinal things, etc.

I would like to have seen it.

We talked about this video at our dinner table. It enabled us to talk with our adult children (who are in line with the gospel) to vent and share their thoughts and we talked about how we can and will stand up if this happens in front of us.

I remember back when the "September 6" event happened, and a number of prominent academics were excommunicated. That caused quite the stir back then. I believe a number of them have come back to the church. But WE need to stand for Jesus Christ, receive personal revelation from HIM, and not yoke ourselves to popular or prominent figures who seek to direct church members towards their causes. I've stumbled on a recent effort (now published) in which the Book of Mormon is being "simplified", and Denver Snuffer is the approver for this. I admit, I've liked (a lot) his first book, but his subsequent books marked a path towards apostacy and excommunication. I know he means well, but he's undermining the brethren and the revelatory authority they have for the church. I knew someone who was "simplifying" the Book of Mormon for children back in the 90's, and she was a wonderful woman, but had some strong (not humble) streaks within her, and she also sought to undermine the brethren in strong feminist areas. I have no idea whatever happened to her, as I disassociated myself from her. My own wife has stopped going to church and attending the temple, and it's tough. In trying to serve as I need to, she criticizes my service, particularly if there's a woman receiving the service. She also tries to council me on how I serve, and I'm frequently having to point to the handbook. (For example, she wants me to serve the sacrament to one parent of hers in another area without authorization.) She and her brother were bad-mouthing part of the temple services, calling them cult-like. And she seems to "coincidentally " schedule family events right when stake conference events occur. I've had to tell her blatantly that if she is going to put herself in a position against God, she's going to lose every time. We're told that even families will be torn apart because of the gospel. I've lost 3 kids in that way. I pray they'll come back. I missed the video referenced here, and I hope you'll put it up again, with a disclaimer (if it's not obvious of your reason for it being up), with a link to the follow-up. But I'll respect your reasons for not doing so. I believe a warning is needed when ignorance is the other solution.

The powers that be have been pushing to colonize Utah, imo. The sudden corporate in rush to Utah the last 10 years has already altered our local culture, and many are falling prey to it.

What are people teaching that is not "in line" with the gospel?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Faith, Repentance, Baptism for remission of sins and then another baptism of fire by the gift and power of the Holy Ghost. I'm wondering what was said that contradicts "The Gospel"?

Was never taught the rock in the hat story or that Joseph had multiple wives. I even visited Nauvoo and the only dissonance I remember feeling was when I learned Emma didn’t go to SLC with the body of the church. Yes I was sheltered and grew up in the hub of Mormon culture. However, it’s important to remember in my high school there was probably 90% LDS students so the other 1400 LDS seminary students who went to the same stake meetings and activities were sheltered the same way. When I learned about a rock in the hat and Joseph’s multiple wives I approached my parents, seminary students and church leaders they had the same response that these folks had about church leaders teaching to accept and acknowledge alternative life styles. That is they said it never happened and were lies made up by those who hate the church.

They need to stop treading lightly and turn the tables. Treading lightly is perpetuating the problem.

We had that lesson back in January during ward conference under the title D...E...I... (Southern Utah county here) I got up and walked out. I believe the directive to hold these such meetings came from the Area Authorities.

Yes! We have a family member in a Provo ward that says their RS is constantly quoting faith matters in all of the lessons.

I believe it. Our provo ward in 2016 had arguments between members about Clinton and Trump. It became pretty nasty before the end of the year. There was a lot more crazy stuff too.
