This cistern, which is located under the Amirchaqmaq pillar and now forms a part of the Yazd Water Museum, was built along with the Haji Qanbar Bazaar during the time of Amir Chaqmaq and by the order of Nizamuddin Haji Qanbar Jahanshahi.
The middle of the 9th Hajri century (around 850 AD) is the time of the building of Amirchaqmaq historical complex and it is part of the endowments of Amirchaqmaq. This reservoir has an entrance, which is located on the second side of the Amirchakmaq hill, and with 50 stairs, you can reach the reservoir and the water collection point. The meticulousness and accuracy of the architects who built the reservoir have created three exclusive features for this reservoir:
1. The whole body of the water tank is buried in the ground, even the upper dome of the air conditioner is in the ground and the dome tip is on the ground level.
2. The water catchers of the reservoir are located in the body of the wall of Bazarche Haji Qanbar, and what we see in other water reservoirs called wind catchers is not seen here.
3. The staircase of the reservoirs in the vast majority of them hits the middle of the treasury, and in this reservoir the staircase is located next to the treasury, and maybe the reason was that if they wanted the staircase to hit the middle of the treasury, they had to empty exactly under the minarets. This issue reduced the minarets' endurance.
The water storage tank is dug 14 meters deep and as mentioned, the roof of the tank is on the ground floor of the bazaar and the diameter of the tank is 9 meters.
The height of the reservoir of Khazine is 9 meters and the rest of its height is for water ventilation and air passage space. This reservoir has 4 4-sided wind deflectors, two of which can be seen from the bottom and their stem at a height of about 1.5 meters above the roof of the bazaar.
Thanks to the efforts of the Yazd Water Museum, the three wind turbines of the reservoir have been restored to their traditional and original form. The water reservoir was used by the public until about 40 years ago, and with the introduction of the piped water network to the cities, these eternal souvenirs have been forgotten and no longer have their past use.

این آب انبار که در زیر تکیه امیرچقماق قرار دارد و اکنون بخشی از موزه آب یزد را تشکیل می‌دهد، به همراه بازارچه حاجی قنبر در زمان امیرچقماق و به دستور نظام‌الدین حاجی قنبر جهانشاهی احداث گردیده است.
اواسط قرن نهم حجری (حدود سنه 850) روزگار بنای مجموعه تاریخی امیرچقماق است و جزء موقوفات امیرچقماق می‌باشد. این آب انبار یک ورودی دارد که در دومین صفه تکهی امیرچقماق واقع شده است و با 50 پلکان می‌توان به پاشیر آب انبار و محل برداشت آب رسید. نکته‌سنجی و دقت معماران سازنده آب انبار سه ویژگی انحصاری را برای این آب انبار پدید آورده است:
1. تمام بدنه آب انبار در زمین مدفون است، حتی گنبد فوقانی تهویه هوا هم در دل زمین قرار دارد و تیزه گنبد در سطح زمین است.
2. بادگیرهای آب انبار در بدنه دیوار بازارچه حاجی‌قنبر جا گرفته است و چیزی را که در دیگر آب انبارها به نام بادگیر می بینیم در اینجا مشاهده نمی‌شود.
3. پلکان آب انبارها در اکثریت قریب به اتفاق آنها به وسط خزینه برخورد می‌کند، که در این آب انبار پلکان در جنب خزینه قرار دارد و شاید علت آن بوده است که اگر می‌خواستند پلکان به وسط خزینه برخورد کند باید دقیقاً زیر مناره‌ها را خالی می‌کردند که این مسئله استقامت مناره‌ها را کم می‌کرد.
خزینه آب انبار در عمق 14 متری زمین حفر شده است و همانطور که گفته شد سقف خزینه همکف بازارچه است و قطر خزینه 9 متر می‌باشد .
ارتفاع آبگیر خزینه هم 9 متر است و بقیه ارتفاع آن برای تهویه آب و فضای عبور هواست. این آب انبار دارای 4 بادگیر 4 وجهی بوده که دو تای آنها از بین و ساقه آنها به بلندی حدود 5/1 متر بالاتر از پشت بام بازارچه دیده می‌شود.
با همت موزه آب یزد سه بادگیر آب انبار به شکل سنتی و اصلی خود بازسازی شده‌اند. آب انبار تا حدود 40 سال پیش مورد استفاده عموم بوده و با ورود شبکه آب لوله‌کشی به شهرها، این یادگاری‌های جاوید به فراموشی سپرده شده‌اند و دیگر کاربری گذشته را ندارند.
