WALKED or PUSHED?! Why Amanda Staveley's 'surprise' Newcastle United exit doesn't add up 

Amanda is a real leader and not sure she got the credit she deserves outside of the region. Job done, acquisition then built a full board operating team along with key people hired and players signed. Proud of what she has achieved and for me I will always be grateful for giving us our club back.

amanda never really had the money and was gifted 10% by pif but since the takeover money has been pumped in by pif and the ruebens and everytime this was done her shares dwindled because ruebens were actually paying her share of the input, so everytime money was invested meant she was in fact losing money because of her shares decreasing and with her health getting worse and her legal battles maybe they decided now was the time to walk away with what they have left, which they still have not sold yet

I know, from the business point of view, this was always going to happen. Various roles have been filled and appointed and basic good foundations have been laid. But for me, after what I have read and seen, this 2 really were invested, quite heavily, in the club. On that reflection it seems this wasn't their idea and I do hope we find out the in's and outs of the circumstances. It's wierd to me, especially at this point in time. Wish them all the best and thank them for the confidence in this club.

This was the plan she brokered the deal and was always going to bow out. She done us proud and will always be liked by the Geordies

Staveley has put on her Instagram that she isn't leaving Newcastle despite her stake in the club being completely gone.

Why the "walk or pushed" headline? Do you know or just speculating.

Given that her share percentage reduces each time there is a financial injection doesn’t it make sense for her to cash out now? With Eales, Mitchell and Silverstone she wasnt involved as much as the first year or 2 so she can walk away without negatively impacting the club. If the stadium upgrade is progressing then at some point another very large cash injection will be needed, when that happens her percentage of shares would be drastically reduced so financially now may have been the best scenario for her too. Hopefully we still see her attending games though

Where do you start concerning Amanda, well, imo an absolute Angel who delivered us from the clutches of you know who, and for that alone, i would build her a statue the height of the Eiffel Tower. Bless her and Mehrdad ❤️❤️

Excellent content again lads and refreshing to hear opinions of proper journalists. Have a feeling of pride and sadness with regards to Amanda and Merhdad, they got the club and fans very quickly and created an family atmosphere. Certainly the players will miss them. Can't help feeling PIF have been upset with the financial state of the club the past 12 months and they've made them both walk the plank as a result. With regards to Ashworth, I was led to believe he wasn't Amanda's choice and she let him know that during the Tonali fiasco. It does feel like Howe has lost some security with them going and next season is huge for him

People missed out on the recent court case she lost - she may have a bill of around £35 million to pay or face bankruptcy. Cashing in her shares in NUFC may be her only course of action.

Amanda done a brilliant job getting the deal over the line and setting a structure up in the boardroom she deserves a lot of credit what a woman. Onwards and upwards we are now built for success... hopefully. #NUFC

I think They are not lost but merely working in pther areas for PIF Think LIV/PGA and also our move into multi-club football model. l do expect a new stadium on Leazes Park with all the modern bells and whistles that can cater fpr our supporters, corporates and international support fit for our City and the Saudi vision.

Any possibility the club would sanction both Amanda and Meherdad becoming the ambassadors to the club. There is nobody finer in my opinion..!

Do you think the timing of this may be somewhat due to everyone involved deciding now is as good a time as any? I say that because as you say, this was the plan eventually, but multiple things like Staveleys court cases, the changing of the guard in terms of Ashworth to Mitchell and the unconventional nature of Amanda and Merhrdads hands on approach with Eddie and the players may have led to everyone thinking this is a good clean breaking point? Perhaps neither willingly jumping nor being forcibly pushed. The buying out of their shares will help them financially with the court battles and Mitchell can begin with a fresh start without as much interference. Perhaps that was even a condition of him joining as it seems that’s an aspect Ashworth struggled with. We may never know the ins and outs, but a lot of that makes sense to me (given the little information we have). I will be sad to see them go, I very much thought of this venture as driven by Amanda and just using PIF to bankroll it, that helped me be more comfortable with the source of the takeover money. Hopefully things will continue to progress, but the confidence I had that the clubs decisions were being made with the best of intentions will be diminished a bit by Amanda’s exit.

I think with 10% ownership of the club it was a step too far financial wise, if we spend 100 million this window she would have to stump up 10 million, please tell me if I'm wrong in this statement but it's a hell of a lot of money to re invest. She and her hubby leave with all the love of every toon fan.....

Like you said this was always going to happen but it's just come out of the blue. But I do think the Ashworth thing has got PIF's back up and not best pleased how it ended up.

You don't need to own a % of the club to be a fan.

Not familiar with UK law or how their contracts were written, but my initial thought is they were told they were being bought out and were given a favorable price so the deal goes down quickly and as quietly as possible to avoid any bad press or courtroom drama

Taking into account Stavely was filing for bankruptcy in 2023 do you think she could realistically match the investment the investment of the Reuben brothers and PIF going forward if they want to invest huge amounts of money building the the stadium the squad the team and so she would have had to come up with 6% of any money the others proposed and you still see this as a complete surprise???

It is a bit sad as they've been massive in the whole PIF purchase of us. This mint start to a huge new NUFC book! However, it's also the ending of a chapter. We plod on with momentum we never dreamed of. I wish them very, very well. They due amazing plaudits and gratitude. Our owners know what's to be done, from a £ point of view, and won't stop!

Great video guys, jealous of Jordan. Shocked like everyone. Sad to see them go. I think the one thing that worries me with PIF, the lack of sentimentality, they may look at large bids for players and think that is good business, ignoring how popular players are and thinking they are easily replaceable. We don't want to go back to the days where all players are seen as pricetags and the pitch is a shop window. We need to continue to back the manager to build the team he needs and a capable squad to back them up. Will Jamie Reuben become more visible in the short term to fill the gap?

How about this theory, they agreed a sale point for their shares as part of the deal. That 10% is worth X amount more now. They bought us for £300m (+1b for the beinsports really) so 10% was £30….how much is our club worth now? We have 3/4 players who combined are worth £300m+ now, and had a champions league run, with upward fortunes retaining our best players, so the club must be worth at least 1b if not more. Even at 1b that 70m profit, and can go into the pot

Theyve only invested 600m including the purchase of the club.

Technical suggestion. Not sure what camera you are using but put it on to manual focus once you are ready to start filming. The auto focus is working pretty well but from time to time the focus ‘hunts’ slightly and you can see ‘focus breathing’. Shooting on manual focus will sort that. The quality is good otherwise and you have cracked the sound which is fine now. Interesting video though. 🙂

I was listening to this and laughed when I heard the hartlepool comment 😂. I am from Hartlepool but a season ticket holder for Newcastle. It is a sad time losing Amanda and mehrdad but they will always be in our hearts for what they brought to this fantastic club . 🖤🤍
