Jose was awesome. And you are right about Flip. I make cooking utensils out of mesquite in South Texas. I saw a couple of videos of Flip doing some cooing. I just randomly sent him a message on Instagram telling him I'd like to gift him a couple of spatulas. Within minutes, I had his home address and off they went. In return, I received a very nice thank you note on his beautiful stationary. The note and envelope are framed and hanging on my office wall.
In boxing it’s Roberto Duran, in baseball it’s Roberto Clemente, in fishing it’s Flip Pallot and Jose Wejebe. My heroes. One of my favorite episodes. Thanks for posting.
I had the honor as a kid to clean Jose’s boat for awhile. Watching Jose and some of these other guys like RT and Ralph coming in every day with full fish boxes and world records was something to see! I was one lucky kid!
Real friendship.....no acting here. I remember watching this back in the 90s. Couldn’t keep me from the WCC.... What a great way to start my weekend! Always enjoyed Flip’s ability to tell the tale and his appreciation for time spent with good friends. Much thanks.
These 2 are why I got into flats fishing in the keys. In fact going to fish wit Todd Ziels March 14,15 and 17th 2023. It's my retirement gift. Living in East TN, this will be awesome. Todd is a great guy and an even a better guide!
Me and my cousin would never miss this show and the summer after this episode aired we went to key west fishing we were only 15 or so then and the memories will never leave my mind like a beautiful dream. My cousin died from his own hand about 10 years ago it was tragic. But that wonderful memory still remains.
I was stationed in KW back in my CG days in the late '90's. I'll never forget the first time I saw that clear blue water, a fishing Mecca. My son and I would wake up on Saturday mornings to watch our hunting and fishing shows. Walker's Cay and Spanish Fly were our favorites to watch! I am beyond excited to see these again and relive those days of watching it and living vicariously through Flip and Jose! Thank you Flip!!!!
Flip, you two are the whole reason I moved to Florida some thirty years ago, I'm a retired boat builder ,hunter , fisherman , but saltwater runs thru my veins , l hope one day I get to shake the hand that changed my life , thanks flip . Tight lines brother.
I would watch you guys every week when I was a kid. Now I’m 43 ….using the techniques I learned from you all these years and successfully being a angler and fly fisherman…thank you Flip for some of the best fly fishing tips over the years …and may you be fishing in the heavens Jose….Thank you also my friend….
Love that theme. I can't help but smile seeing the mid-90s Dodge Ram styling. A V6, 95 Ram was my first new vehicle. It was hardly tricked out, as AC and power windows were still not found on the lower end models, but I can honestly say I've never loved a vehicle like I did that one. Good memories.
as I watch this and remember my childhood, I'd love to know what year this was. Any chance you could post the year of each episode when you put them up? Brings back some great memories. Also, watching with my wife who is a Conch, she's dying to know the years too.
"ya got enough drag on him!?" flip is actually saying.... "dude, im gonna stroke out polling , will ya please just stop teaching the fish how to swim and put the brakes on that gd fish jose!"
Im curious why these legends aren’t using fly rods? Was the technology just not there yet for fly rods? I’m 24 and have fly fished for 3 years. So I’m not as knowledgeable as some of you OGs commenting
