The Outdoors with Carl Allen presents: Walker's Cay [S1E4]
When the Allens bought Walker's Cay in 2018, the island was in despair. However, they were told what they had purchased was 'The Bones of a Lion.' In this episode, the Allens give an inside look on their plans to restore the island back to the greatness that it once was.

I can remember spending weekends in a tent on the beach in Walkers Cay. My friends dad had a plane and did business in the Bahamas. He would drop us off With our diving gear on Saturday morning and pick us up on Sunday afternoon. The currents ripping around the island were very strong. We would be in the water all day. I was a senior in HS. 1979.

Great video! Thank goodness for the Allens for restoring Walker's to its former glory and beyond, all the while preserving the island's deep history. Truly a Legend Reborn. Can't wait to return!

Wow! We will be back! We spent our honeymoon on Walker's, June 1970. Spent a week as guest of the Dockmaster, Dwight Smith and his wife Stephanie. My parents. This was our first time to the Bahamas and have been back dozens of times during our marriage, including 10 years on our sailboat cruising from Walker's down to Acklins....

Thank you, Carl and your entire crew, for bringing Walker's Cay back to life. I spent 20 years providing IT support for the island and the FBO in Ft. Lauderdale and I have to say, it was the grandest adventure and most gratifying experience of my entire life. I hope to have the opportunity to return in the not-too-distant Future.

When I saw the picture of the old brochure, my uncle is the guy in the red shirt holding the grouper. He remembers going on the photo shoot for Walkers Cay…….great nostalgia

I would love an opportunity to work for a family like that! You can really see they appreciate and respect someone who is honest, hardworking and extremely loyal. I have spent my life working to make everyone else happy, and I don't regret it, I just wish I felt appreciated. I'm dreaming of someday soon leaving this country behind for a place where I matter.

I first went to Walker's right after the Gulf War in 1991, I desperately needed some R&R. I went bonefishing with my guide Sidney Andrews and became hooked! I followed that up with 20 more trips. I cannot wait to go back to "my paradise" in the Bahamas.

1990 I think it was...I was 17 y o and born and raised in Miami, Gables etc and one of my bffs may she rest in peace, too young! 🙏 her dad, Hutch sponsored a week long Blue Marlin fishing tourney on Walkers Cay and I went that year with them and mercy mercy mercy...the memories, the epic fun, the free everything was simply amazing but of course wouldn't truly appreciate that experience til decades later but yes what a blast!! The 1st night we were to sleep on Winn Rockefellers 'dingy' as I called it. He was her dads friend and Kathy introduced me to him and he was probably same age or younger than I am now. He jumped ship to hang with the...'adult adults' and Kathy and I chose to hang with her dads capts mate, Jeff and another young man from Alabama who was 1st mate and we cooked spaghetti on the boat, ate and proceeded to do what came naturally lol at the time...aka...party central and as Kathy and I were going back to boat to sleep, I stepped off dock...bam! Oops...missed the boat, straight into water but Jeff and Alabama pulled me up in out in seconds flat! Upon laying down to sleep...I got woozy 🤦‍♀️ and I vividly remember thinking..."Oh no im can't ralph on a 'Rockefeller' boat and the only plastic in sight close enough was bedside lampshade covered in plastic...ummm...poor lampshade! We would end up sleeping in that small hotel for rest of trip and another night we found a man out cold at picnic table and we felt sorry for him lol and we forced him to get up and we helped usher him to his room. All I remember is he wasnt a small man. In hindsight he was probably a bank owner or something, as all the guests were uber wealthy ppl but us teeny boppers were just that...boppin around without a care in the world! There were 2 pools I remember, a like legit saltwater one, and a chlorine one. The rickety little, like a boat hut slip...I'd go sit up on a rocky edge next to it overlooking bay for alone time. I ♥️ Walkers Cay and forever etched in my memory!! Thank you for bringing her back to life! 👏👏 Bravo!

Wow! Thank you for making your dream come true and reviving Walkers! No wonder I couldn't find it on map, even thru name search cuz until today...I didn't know hurricane took it down! Y'all are the silver lining to that tragedy and I've been deep in Walkers rabbit hole this morn lol. I decided to search on youtube and bam! Here we are! One of the vids few years ago, in restaurant...I remember that tile floor! Goombay Smash was literally served...by the gallon lol and for free, well...put on my friends dads tab I'm assuming. PS: Love Gigi's name!
