I walk through the growing Seaport District and the historic area of Fort Point in Boston, MA. This area is developing quickly, and the waterfront areas are seeing piers constructed, as well as new buildings.

"The Seaport District, or simply the Seaport, is a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. It is sometimes considered part of South Boston and has gone under an extensive redevelopment effort in recent years. It is bordered by the Fort Point Channel to the west, Boston Harbor to the north and east, and South Boston to the south. It is sometimes referred to as The Boston Waterfront."

Great video. As a California guy, I love to see part of our history. Then you walked past the fishing pier my great grandfather designed, and finished at a sign for Jimmy’s Harborside, where my brother used to work. As I said, what a great video.

Was not aware of the extent of the massive construction ongoing in the Seaport District. It will certainly give Bostonians a new view of the City. Old and new co-existing. Very informative documentary. Thx AK.

I really like this neighbourhood, in Boston, AK!! Great tour, and great description of how this area is developing!! This is an area that I'd consider, for a home, if I was living in Boston. I really like a "walking community," so if there is good transportation, and stores, and restaurants, nearby, that is terrific for me. I'd like to explore this neighbourhood more, on my next trip to Boston, post-pandemic!! Love your videos of Boston and neighbourhoods!! :-)

Need to at least pass by the ICA, and you are right. 10 years ago the whole area was abandoned brick and mortar industrial buildings or abandoned and decommissioned lots, crumbling to dirt. The only building that stood out was the ICA and basically set the architecture for the whole area. It was also surrounded by several blocks of worn down lots, which also made it eye catching.

Opening shot: the artwork (of intersecting arcs and curves) on the building across the street is by Frank Stella, born 12th May, 1936 in Massachusetts. It's called "Damascus Gate" (stretch variation I), from his "protractor" series begun in the late 1960's.

The area was a seaport/rail hub and warehouses. Much more attractive than it is now.

This is still the most quickly developing are of the city. But it will be underwater by 2050, already floods during severe storms. The developers (and their money) will be long gone by then.

Before all this shiny objectism the area was developed and maintained by an arts community. Now they are driven out.

"Taxation without representation" was resolved during the 1760s, before the so-called "revolution". The issue that the taxation was intended to discourage the illegal smuggling of tea and selling them at a lower price. In short: the Founders didn't have clean hands, despite the propaganda.
