Why didn't someone tell me they had bat boxes full of bats?! Such a nice surprise. I had already found a few deer and several different birds species, but the bats were definitely a highlight.
I camped at this Florida State Park for a couple reasons. It was a good staging spot to get further into the panhandle, and it's in a county I still needed to film in.
It's a fairly peaceful place though the swimming area in the small lake was a bit noisy. Everyone seemed to be having fun though.
I spent my time circling the small property. There are a couple sections of boardwalk that are closed off, but it's not that far of a walk to go around.
There are a few different viewpoints of the waterfall, the tallest in the state, as I understand it. At one such viewpoint you can get right up against it.
There are also a few sinkholes to hike to, and I found the playground was pretty good for birding too.
Speaking of birds: I'm pretty sure I've seen a Summer Tanager before but I don't remember if I got it on film. I found a few while hiking these trails. I found what I believe to be my first nuthatch too, but I can't be sure if that one was my first either. Must be time to rewatch some of my older videos!
