I live in Bulgaria. After watching this video, I decided to go to Alkmaar. I spent 6 great days and just got back from my trip. Thanks for this great video. Captures Alkmaar in its best time.
😀Thanks, Thomas for that wonderful walk in my birth city. I did recognize the many places you have shown the cheese market among other things. The bells ringing and the little draaiorgel. A city with a rich history because they hold the city against the Spaniards on 8 October 1572 and is still every year remembered.
I lived in Amsterdam for several years but would go to Alkmaar to get away from the crowds. I also rode my bike through the Tulip fields around Haarlem.
Thank you for this video. I was fortunate to be able to visit my homeland The Netherlands in 2010. Alkmaar is a beautiful city and as i "walked with you" relived that holiday from that time. I was based in Egmond Aan Zee and used to catch the bus daily to Alkmaar station and traveled from there to many small and large towns. I love Amsterdam but Alkmaar remains more in my thoughts? i visited family in Zegveld, south of Nieuwkoop and had a delicious lunch at my Uncle's house and cried with happiness that day as i sat at his table. Thank you again for this video and i saw the restaurant beside the church where i enjoyed a Dutch breakfast "pancake?" Peace.
@@wanderingthomas Cool, i will watch it soon. We stayed at Sterflat 185 Boulervard Ingenieur de Vassy where rented a holiday apartment for three weeks. had a lovely view of the sea and nice sunsets. On the main boulervard a short walk away was an old beautiful house (in 2010) but has since been demolished, very sad. Peace.
Wandering Thomas, I am glad that I can always rely on you to manufacture contents of the highest possible quality for me to enjoy fully. Each time I lay eyes on the contents of your channel, I realize fully the glories and pleasures present within.
I life in Alkmaar not in the city but in the region but my Mother, Grandma and Grandpa lived there an had a meubilair store called the twaalf balken now my grandma live in Heiloo.
It's been a lobg two years, due to Covid that I have not visited the Netherlands. But barring anything happening in the near future I will be spending two full months there extending to the end of this year. Alkmaar is now in my plans!
7:17 (Gioacchino Rossini - La gazza ladra - Overture) “As we walked along the flatblock marina, I was calm on the outside, but thinking all the time - Now it was to be Georgie the general, saying what we should do and what not to do, and Dim as his mindless greeding bulldog. But suddenly, I viddied that thinking was for the gloopy ones, and that the oomny ones use like, inspiration and what Bog sends. Now it was lovely music that came into my aid. There was a window open with the stereo on, and I viddied right at once what to do.”
Oh look the polish found this vid as well. For those wondering: a polish soccerteam had to play against the alkmaar team and it all got a bit violent. Police acted and got two players out of the bus and now the trolls are acting up. And being idiots finding old vids and reacting that alkmaar is racist. Yawn.
