Walking in the Viking Age in the 9th Century London (Latin: Londinium; Old English: Lunden), England. In 43 CE, the Romans settled the town of Londinium. The wall that ran around the settlement had six gates built into it; one of them was named after King Lud, who ruled pre-Roman Britain around 66 CE. The Roman settlement became the bulk of what would be known as the City of London.
Lunden became subjected to Viking raids during the early 9th century and eventually became overran by the Great Heathen Army in the 860s. In 878, West Saxon forces led by Alfred the Great defeated the Vikings at the Battle of Ethandun and forced their leader Guthrum to sue for peace.

imagine the pagan warrior-like Anglo-Saxons, who couldn't even read nor write, beginning to arrive in Britain in the 5th century and discovering a dark, wet and mysterious land littered with decaying Roman-built marvels of engineering like marble statues, bathhouses, once centrally-heated Roman villas, coliseums and aqueducts. Truly the works of engineering genius at that time. Regarding these Roman ruins, Alfred the Great, King of the West Saxons and later King of the Anglo-Saxons, is quoted to have said "we may still see their footprints, but we cannot follow after them" and referred to them as the "work of giants".

The ruins look creepy, like might they be inhabited by ghosts? Who lives in them? I would fear going anywhere near them.

As an outsider walking through this area you see a lot odd things but of the people that you come across most look as though they have never excersized a day in their lives and it shows.... You don't mock them because of their beliefs but you don't believe in them yourself but you are just passing through and seeing the progress or lack of that there is and where you are from you are several years ahead of these people but it's not really their fault it's the leaders that take and don't give and they are very hard workers but without guidance they won't go very far.... Some areas have very good potential and the others could just dry up like dust and never be seen again and the businesses are ran by people who know how to sell to and make a profit but don't know a blessed thing about the merchandise that they actually sell as long as they get rich that's all that matters.... Many of these people have mental and emotional problems and you know a lot about this because you have experienced depression and anxiety most of your life and that is why you travel around and watch the various people or characters as you like to refer to them as and you take notes and hopefully you will try and write a book about what you have seen and for what purpose well to try and help people live long and healthy lives and not to become stereotypes throughout history.... Well as you walk along and through this maze like countryside trying to make your way to wherever it leads you and look at the scenery and the landscape of this country and you wonder if you will ever find anything normal on your journey but so far you haven't, nothing around here is anywhere near normal and you just take in the nice weather and the days are filled with sunshine and the sounds of the birds and the wind blowing and the nights are filled with quiet and some minor sounds here and there such as animals and the water splashing around and just take it easy.... You try not to eavesdrop on people's conversations but many of them talk so loud that you can hear them from a mile away and most of what they talk about is really very silly and you just try to get on by onto the next round of your journey, well g'night y'all.

I think they're trying to portray the post Roman version of London, but a better era for that would have been set 400 years earlier, say 473 CE.
