Marburg / Germany is a town north in the state of Hesse of Frankfurt. Marburg is famous for the Philipps University, founded in 1527 and its old town with half-timbered houses.
On this walk we start at market fountain (Marktbrunnen) right on the market square. We explore the narrow streets of Marburg and walk all around the Altstadt. On our way we see some sights like churches and even pass some sculptures of the "Grimm-Dich-Pfad".
Later on this evening stroll around the town we even get down from the upper part just to return to where we started our walking tour.

Thank you, Henry! On that day I was recording walks in 4 towns: Limburg, Weilburg, Wetzlar and Marburg. Even though I had to change trains in Giessen it was too late for that. Still, one of the nicest days thanks to catching all train connections

Really crazy how much this city is shaped by the presence of its university. There are more citys like that of course, but still amazes me every time!

I studied at this university and lived in Marburg for one year, September 1964 - August 1965. The city looks very much the same, for the most part, but a few things stand out as "new" -- the graffiti in many locations (graffiti would have been totally taboo in the 1960s), the parking-ticket machines -- parking was free (where you could find it) 60 years ago, and there were few bicycles in the 1960s (and even fewer bicycle racks). But the ubiquitous church bells seem to be the same, and the colorful old buildings seem as well-kept as ever. Marburg is a wonderful little city, rich with history, tradition and culture.

Schönes Video, es fehlt aber die Elisabethkirche, auch der Spiegelslust Turm...ich bin 70 Jahre, solange kenne ich bestimmt 65 Jahre diese wunderschöne Stadt, die Gottseidank im Krieg nicht zerbombt wurde...LG HW aus dem Nordkreis MR

I sometimes walk around in Marburg and just want to record all the sounds all around me, those perfect moments when musicians play there songs and then a family with children passes by or something. Sometimes I just stand there and do some field recording, but only for myself.

Hi Poptravel. Würdest du durch die vielen Deutschlandreisen auch sagen, dass dich es überrascht wie viele schöne Ecken es in Deutschland gibt? Warst du da auch teilweise überrascht was du noch nicht kanntest?

In der Tat kannte ich recht wenig und war überrascht, wie viel es zu sehen gibt. Deutschland hat eine riesige Anzahl sehenswerter Städte. Auf den Reisen 2020/21 konnte ich dank guter Zugverbindungen manchmal 3 oder sogar 4 Orte pro Tag besuchen, was in wenigen anderen Ländern so komfortabel möglich ist.

@@poptravelorg Ja man kennt oft sein eigenes Land nicht. Man ist oft überrascht, was es alles so für schöne Ecken vor der eigenen Haustür gibt. Man muss sich also nur damit genauer auseinandersetzen und dann findet man schon so seine Lieblingsplätze (: Was ich vielleicht auch mal cool finden würde wäre, wenn du mal durch Landschaften oder Wälder mit deiner Kamera gehen würdest. Aber natürlich ist auch klar dass sich dein Kanal auf Stadtrundgänge bezieht. Wäre aber vielleicht auch mal interessant. So ein Walk durch den Schwarzwald oder so (: LG
