Welcome to OBSERVER, the channel where I explore the beauty and diversity of nature in different places. In this video, I will take you on a walking tour of the Yerevan Botanical Garden, one of the largest and most impressive botanical gardens in Armenia.
The Yerevan Botanical Garden was opened in 1935, in a semi-desert area of 80 hectares, almost devoid of trees, at an altitude of 1200-1250 meters1. It is home to more than 200 species of endemic, rare, and declining plants, as well as plants from various regions of the world, such as the Caucasus, North America, Europe, Siberia, and East Asia1. The garden also has a greenhouse with a collection of tropical and subtropical plants, including orchids, ferns, palms, and cacti.
One of the most charming features of the garden is the abundance of squirrels that live there. They are very friendly and curious, and will often come close to visitors and even take food from their hands. They are also very playful and agile, jumping from tree to tree and chasing each other. You will see many of them in this video, as well as some birds and butterflies.
The Yerevan Botanical Garden is a great place to relax and enjoy nature, especially in spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom. It is also a place to learn about the flora of Armenia and the world, as well as the importance of conservation and biodiversity.
