I take a walk from the Westminster Bridge, with an amazing view of Elizabeth Tower and Palace of Westminster, to Buckingham Palace. I also visit the Horse Guards Parade, where several King's Guards are stationed and then take a walk to St. James's Park to Buckingham Palace.

I wish I still lived in this beautiful city with its stunning architecture & lots of green space. After you walked through St James Park (57 acres) and arrived at Buckingham Palace, to your right was Green Park (40 acres) and then to the right of The Palace you can walk up Constitution Hill (or through Green Park) to reach Hyde Park (350 acres) which then leads, after the Serpentine (a lake) directly into Kensington Gardens (260 acres). These are four of the 7 Royal Parks. The largest is Richmond Park (2,360 acres) with many wild deer that roam free.

Another lovely video about my home town. I’m so glad you realise that both the Household Cavalry and the Foot Guards are full time professional soldiers in the Army and not Disneyland actors in costume. They rotate between ceremonial duties and normal military duties, which can include going to war. The Household Cavalry are tank regiments and the Foot Guards are infantry regiments. If you saw Her late Majesty’s State Funeral you will have seen the 6 Foot Guards who carried her coffin and they had to be called back to London from Iraq to carry out their final duty to her as members of the Queen’s (now King’s) Guard. So many tourists are so disrespectful to them as they think they are there as a tourist attraction rather than soldiers on guard duty. That is why the Ministry of Defence Police are located at Horse Guards (as it is the official entrance to Buckingham Palace and is military land). Most people wrongly assume that they are armed units of the Metropolitan Police Service.

What a beautiful day this was. When you're walking around London, especially in the areas of this video, you're keenly aware of all the history that happened on these streets and in these buildings. I read that the Palace was considered a dump, bc of leaky roof, inadequate plumbing, faulty wiring and such, a fire hazard. So they're in the middle of a $500 million project to renovate it. Something else I'm noticing in your excellent series is that most of the people on the streets of London walk quickly, with purpose. They might be as fast as New Yorkers, especially in the Underground. My buddy and I took that long walk down the Mall (rhymes with pal) to Buckingham Palace. You have to sit on the steps of the Victoria Memorial.

I love how you timed your video perfectly to capture Big Ben's chime, and that's an amazing view of the Elizabeth Tower and Palace of Westminster along River Thames. 🕑🔔😍 18:53 It's so fascinating to see the King's Guards and I'm surprised one of the guards allowed people to pet the horse. 😲💂🐴 21:55 I admire these soldiers, and it requires a lot of discipline to stand vigil for long periods. 42:40, 43:40, 44:37 This was cool to see from afar. They usually let you stroke or pat the horse gently, but don't touch the reins because the rider controls the horse with these.

My Great-grandmother who lived with us from my birth, was born in England in 1876. She described to me being on The Mall for Queen Victoria's 60th reigning. "All the throngs of people on the Mall!" (pronounced "mal" like 'malice') and it's only in my lifetime that we are now quite familiar with the scene, due to the advent of live television. In 1900 at the age of 24 "Grandma" arrived in New York to be with her betrothed, an electrical engineer with The Long Island Railroad. My parents, born in the mid twenties, grew up on Long Island with unlimited tales to tell of NYC, were engaged in the Cafe Rouge of the Hotel Pennsylvania, dancing to Big Band era performances. Grandma used to sail frequently back to England both before and after The Titanic. Her great big steamer trunk was a table in my bedroom, and still had enormous stickers like "Cunard." You've got me coming and going, AK. What a thrill. Thanks for all you do.

I read Trafalgar Square has a low, large street lamp with a small booth underneath the light. The small booth is where a police officer used to be stationed, but the booth now used for supplies for the people who keep the square clean. Nearby there's a tower dedicated as a memorial for a large, fire that devastated the area where the tower is located and the tower used to house a basement lab by the person who designed the tower. That person tried to use the tower as a telescope but the traffic in the area threw off the mechanicals and precision of the telescope so the telescope and lab were abandoned.
