Hey Philly Captain, there you were a day after your birthday walking away but a local Philly one in good old historical Bridesburg along with your great family pet and your loyal but has a mind of own mind at times Rick the Puppy...Cute little dog...Ok great walking tour video as always from you..Enjoyed every minute.. Wow amazing how Bridesburg got it's name from way back in the day...Hey I am glad to view how Bridesburg is reshaping up and maintaining still as a Phila community...Parts of Port Richmond and Fishtown I heard thru the years were getting fixed up in some spots as well...So far looking ok to date...Hey you mentioned 20 years you have been there now in Bridesburg..Guess after the big 20 landmark like homes, businesses, cars etc, we can call you the The Philly Classic Captain...Anyway also glad to see the Bridesburg school got a add on to stretch it up to the 8th grade...Also the rec center, community pool and playground all got remodeled as well...I noticed in your video walking through there, their outdoor Xmas tree still standing...Also looking on to the Delaware River as well east side...They look good...Also St John's Catholic Church westward in the neighborhood, nice original catholic church along with the other schools there...Glad that the recently closed down All saints Church still stands and whatever they are doing in between..Alright walking along residents throwing away real Xmas trees being thrown out finally after the holiday fact.. Ok you also did Thompson St where a Southbound Septa 73 bus went by and of course the northbound 73 comes back on Richmond St...Oh yes Philly Cap rediscovered your favorite Flemish bond on homes around your neck of the woods...I have a couple of young friends who had recently moved to the west side of Bridesburg in the last few years...I used to hang out in Bridesburg in my early Philly cruising years as well as knowing other previous friends in passing...Oh yes the old VFW post on Richmond St, the second post of the US from way back...I once attended a great party there a long time ago there..Edgemont Caterers it was either there or the other catering place now closed down that faced the factory I used to attend a wedding anniversary party of a NE Phila couple 20 plus years ago.. You're right the last 2 winters to present, the winter has not been that bad...Glad you had fun at Edgemont Caterers, wow 30 bucks and all you can drink while seeing a Elvis impersonator..Grest deal back then...Some businesses still there and others are not along one way LeFevyere St which yes over the years would always be busy traffic wise...I also used to enjoy the Big Daddy O s bar on that west bound street...What I like in there was the blue neon light scene with a backdrop mural of the colonial times showing our history...Also good drinks, foods and great times there whenever I attended that bar...Ok a Bridesburg barber and flower shop on the corners..Cool story you mentioned about the former Parker Flowers and their loyal floral Parker dog taking out the flowers and giving them to the customer...Hey Philly Cap you can cover so much per your requests but you manage to accommodate whenever you can..Oh yes the factory in Brifesburg Rohm n Haas, one whiff from their plant you know are in Bridesburg...Why that one smoke stack has the Nicetown name well maybe the name of the company but that's an educated Philly guess..Also from earlier in your video, I used to remember the old Bridgeview Cafe on Richmond St near the community rec center from a awhile ago when they used to be open as well..Ok Philly Captain have a great weekend, take care, and until your next uploaded sailing Philly adventure video, as always TOODLES ON...

@@ThePhillyCaptain sorry you feel that way Jon...The next time I will try to make it as short as possible...It's just my way of sharing with you what I know also about Philly from where my family came from originally as well as for me being there different times in my life as well and you would appreciate that from someone...I thought you wouldn't mind the great added Philly details from my point of view...Believe me in person it's a lot different when I am terse with people...No problem take care...

I’ve been waiting for this walk! I haven’t been there since early 2000’s when Dad retired from PGW. We grew up on the last block of Ash.

The Frankford Arsenal supplied the Union with ammunition during the Civil War. It was active until at least the mid 1960s.

There’s a Kirkbride Elementary School in South Philly, my dad attended with Eddie Fisher, the singer and father of actress Carrie Fisher, but it was named after Eliza Butler Kirkbride, who had nothing to do with the Joseph Kirkbride that Bridesburg is named after. I did a little research myself and the area was known as Kirkbridesburg and it just got shortened to Bridesburg because the name was just too long. Interesting if true.

I remember an episode of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia with Danny Devito doing a boat tour and I thought about your walking videos. I might do one Danny Devito style. Maybe mention to random people that someone was murdered here. LOL Like I will be at a Wawa and state that in 1987 6 people were murdered in this store and the killer was never found.

Will we see those Fishtown style 4 story boxes in Bridesburg, I wonder? All of them have little garbage can "jails" under the stoop and the postmodern dark brick/vinyl design clashes a bit with the traditional red brick & bay window prewar rowhouse. Also, I'm glad I know how to pronounce "Lefevre" street now, lol.

How the Hell do you walk by a mural of a police officer and don't even read it or mention him? That smoke stack is off dozens that were scattered throughout the city. Theý made bullets in those. The ones that went in the muskets.
@ThePhillyCaptain

The police officers name was Gary Skeski he was murder responding to a burglary call at a bar. Instead of saying How the hell could you do that? Just ask me. The other mural I didn't point out was an octopus. That is your art tour of Bridesburg
