Walking Providence, Rhode Island Waterfront & Downtown via Westminster Street

I take a walk in Downtown Providence via Westminster Street to the Waterfront, cross the Providence River, and then make my way back to Downtown, crossing over the beautiful Providence Pedestrian Bridge with gorgeous views of Downtown. Providence is the state capital of Rhode Island, the smallest state in the United States.

"Providence is the capital and the most populous city of Rhode Island. It was one of the first cities established in the United States. It is located in Providence County. It is the third largest city in the New England region. In the 2010 census, the city proper population was 178,042. The area is the 37th largest metropolitan population in the country, with an estimated MSA population of 1,600,856. This is more people than the population of Rhode Island due to the area reaching into southern Massachusetts. Providence is at the mouth of the Providence River, at the head of Narragansett Bay. The city's small footprint is crisscrossed by streets at odd angles and has a rapidly changing distribution of residents."

Hi o like dawn town it's very nice because it looks old and some look very antiqued but also during the summer they have water fire it's kind of near where u was Walking in that video so lot of people come around that time it's very nice couse they do it in the night like seven so have fun walking knowing providence 😉👍👍😉

9:27 The Superman Building! Fun fact about the pedestrian & bike bridge over the river: I-195 used to be there. They relocated the highway further south and built the bridge on the highway's old piers.

The Providence River used to be covered by roads but our former Mayor Buddy Cianci conceived the open waterways you see now. He changed the whole countenance of our city and it became a thriving metropolis in the 80 's. Come back to see Waterfire in the summer.

The "little bust" on the building is on the Turk's Head Building. Also Seth McFarlane went to RISD (my Mom and Dad did too!) Love your videos. Just moved back from California to live in RI and worked Downtown Providence in the '70s. My Dad used to swim in the Providence River in the '20s. Check out the now abandoned Superman Building. Thanks for the excellent tours!

Interesting walk. May I suggest you pay a visit to Madison WI. It is a very lively town and the University of Wisconsin is really worth looking.

This city reminds me a lot of Copenhagen or Dublin because the providence river is similar to the waterways of both cities. The Providence Power Plant is the same power plant of Copenhagen and both are closed the port

@@ActionKid Did you get a chance to go to Newport RI that is another famous city in RI. Alot of old mansions,. Ocean Drive, Cliffwalk going along the ocean. I know it's hard to see everything when traveling across the country. In Providence I think you filmed it one building is called the Superman building. Still haven't seen your other Providence videos yet. Maybe you mentioned it on it. Not sure why they called it that not sure if was a building that was on a older Superman show or movie. You may not know that along the river they have a very popular water fire. They light up the river and have different attractions, food and entertainment.

I live just outside of Providence and love the city. Sadly, because you were there mid pandemic, it was dead downcity. Also, that's why all the restaurants were closed. The pandemic really hit the city hard because all the big businesses in all those big buildings are having their employees work from home. Pre pandemic, it is much more of a busy city.

Yes, I live in Providence and on the weekends the city is typically quieter than during the week day. Saturdays are usually pretty busy though with lots going on

Federal Hill, which is on the other side of I-95 (west of downtown) is Providence's Italian district/neighborhood. It is highly recommended to check out!

The river was literally underground until about 25 years ago, so that's probably why there's less development along the water
