This is a beautiful game, it's unfortunately though that is helps the white washing of history...if you look at the ancient Egyptian art you clearly see there were people of multiple skin tones living in Egypt. There were dark skin people, medium toned brown skin people and light skin people around at that time. It was a major hub of the ancient world that drew in tons of traders and travelers from all over the ancient world. Much like Rome would become and America today.. Like I said it was clearly depicted in the ancient art itself. The common argument is that Eygptians looked Arab because that's who occupys Egypt today...but that'd be like saying ancient Native Americans looked like English men because that's who occupys America today.. Eygpt, was taken over many times through its run by Arabs, Roman's, and even Africans who lived lower on the continet. So modern Egypt is much like modern like America, an inaccurate depiction of the ancient people who used to occupy it. So, you can't say Ancient Egyptians all looked Arab because that's who rules it today....Saying the Egyptians where " black " is also a bad term because of the stereotyped image of what "black" means to people. Usually it's the image of West Africans. But the truth is there are many types of " black " people that vary in looks. Africa is a HUGE place with a variety of Ethnic and genetic variations. The truth is Egyptians were North Africans. In my theory, the ancient Egyptians looked like the North African Ethiopians of today. Also, the African people of the Sadan and the Kingdom of Kush lived near Egypt and they would engage in trade often. They were definitely Dark skin Africans so, even if the Ethiopians were the main Egyptians you would see a mix of different Africans there awsell. Not to say you wouldn't see Arabs either. Truthfully like I said above, you would probably see traders from all over in Egypt, Asia, India, the Mediterranean, Middle East ect.. So to have no presence of a variation of skin types and races is just a untrue depiction of Eygpt formed by the twisting of history.
This is not Ancient Egypt, please don't confuse the time-lines, this is the Hellenistic Egypt, after the conquest of Alexander the Great, it is simply a greek colony kingdom, more specific Ptolemaic. Even the game itself told us that Cleopatra lived more close to our days than her to the construction of the pyramids of Giza.
Imagine a whole development team and historians working on one of the most beautiful assassin's creed stories and implementing a whole discovery tour to enrich the knowledge of players only for it to be called a "walking simulator" 🤣🤣
I think this is a good pedagogic approach to show the architecture and behavior of an ancient culture (or even the present ones). A new way of teaching and learning or even of tourism. C'mon look at this 25:56! It's really nice that Assassin's Creed Origins has this game mode. May this inspires other software developers.
I hate assassins creed now, but I still have huge respect for the people that spend time to research and give us a historically accurate setting to live and walk around in
@@en.mujtabafaisal7574 They were neither black nor white. They were Egyptians, with dark skin, but not of the Negroid race. Modern Copts are their descendants.
@Baby Dun Gunna Nothing racist. I am from Russia, we call representatives of the African race that way. How else? And the Egyptians were not Negroid, some of the oldest burials show people with even red hair.
What I love about this is that I can experience this "second life" without the stress of fighting an enemy and to actually walk slowly and transport one's self into what it would be like to walk around the mastaba village. Thank you for making these videos. Assassin's Creed discovery tours are the phenomenal!
In a vast ocean of stressful or bad content, it is a rare gem to find a beautiful and relaxing video. Loved it. I would change the title for "Greco-Roman Egypt" though
The only thing I was annoyed with in this mode was the small awkward things like adding little girls to schools in Alexandria with a disclaimer that only boys were allowed to study but Ubisoft doesn't stand for sexism. Fair, but come on...
Is this a character you can play as? Who is she? Please somebody explain because I never knew assassins creed had female game characters 🤔 (apart from Valhalla and multiplayer in an older game)
During spring, summer and autumn you would work all day on the field. At night the only light source is the stove (if you are lucky to have one), so you can't really do anything. During winter you can't make food so you try to survive with what you produced during the warmer seasons. So yes, it was simple - all you did was work.
It's a little disconcerting to see palm trees sway like there's a gale, but no wind noise and all smoke rises straight up... The palm trees should really not be moving, only the palm fronds should rattle a bit if at all given how smoke rises straight up.
I see you didn’t go to Giza, Memphis, or Siwa. It looks like you’re only in Cyrene or the Greaco-Roman parts of Egypt. Not the more Egyptian parts of Assassins Creed Origins.
Egypt was colonized by Greeks for a long time after Alexander the Great conquered the lands and installed one of his generals to be the new Egyptian Pharoah and started the Ptolemy Dynasty. Cleopatra the last Ptolemaic Pharoah is Greek

you should study more history, this takes place during the last years of the last egyptian dynasty the ptolemaic dynasty which was founded by ptolemeus (one of alexander the great's generals) some 300 years previously, during their rule a lot of greeks migrated to egypt, in order to win over the hearts and minds of the egyptians the ptolemy kings adopted egyptian customs, greek was spoken at court and greek art and architecture crept and hybridized with the local egyptian
It was from the game Assassin's Creed origin. Northern part of Egypt (as from this game narration) was occupied by Roman and their influence is strong....
@@marsultor6131 They would be speaking Koine- a kind of middle Greek. The lighthouse shows this is the outskirts of Alexandria during the Hellenistic period.
