I completely agree and hope for the best for him. I was happy to hear him describe his experience living in Texas and about how helpful and courteous the Texans were who he came across. Of course there are bigoted people in this and every other country, and the media loves to highlight them, but most of us like to see people happy and if we have a chance to help in a small way we do.

One time I walked up a mountain alone one time, and later I found out someone was murdered in that way a few days later. The scene with the masonic flag on a hill is by where I was robbed once when I was there for the last time in probably forever. I was alone in a place with bridges, and I saw a guy a stone's throw away just leaning on a barrier. I asked him for directions, but as soon as he saw my pants ,he looked at the bulge. I thought he may have been gay in the non-happy way, but he was just looking for something to steal. I was too careless in part because at the time I was the scariest-looking thing around, having a big black beard of several months where I would be asked by Hondurans where I was from. I told them Honduras, but they said "You look like you're from Iraq." Anyway, the thick man got close to me with a concerned expression, and then just slid his hand down, and I was like, in my mind "Is this sexual harassment? Is this actually happening?" But he took out my cell phone. I reached to get it back but he blocked me while looking at it. I was thinking he probably had a gun or a knife, but I hated the injustice, so I stood there thinking of what to do. I then told him that it was a cheap phone anyway, and he smiled, and I walked away without looking back. Silly me. Later I told my aunt: "Now I'm a real Honduran 'cause I got robbed."

Totally, a real legend. I am very lucky to meet such people.

I lived in honduras outside of San Pedro sula for awhile and am not hispanic but spoke Spanish. I never felt threatened and everyone was always kind to me. The people we would see killed were all from gang related activity but the people in the gangs were always nice to us it is just their way of life and protection.

That's exactly why they dont show Americans what these places are really like so they can have a false ans naive understanding of the safety and standard of living they enjoy and take for granted

Not many tourists? Well, when I travel, there's lots of foreigners at the airport :/ Maybe there's not many tourists that go to Tegus' downtown, but to Honduras? There's quite a lot (mostly asians).

But I've met dozens of Hondurans on construction sites and they always seem offended that I'm brown and only speak English. Many treat me differently because of "not" knowing spanish here in America. So I see and hear lots of hate for my country coming from Mexico and below. Please assimilate, and don't segregate we already have enough hate.

my dad is Honduran. He has always told us that it's too dangerous there and I have that fear too of the violence there. He still wants to take my family there, hopefully we are able to go someday.

I just visited Honduras last year after 25 yrs . And the experience was amazing . The first few days I was culture shocked , a lot of people riding motorcycles , walking , or simply just watching the block . People are very generous & humble but you also have to watch out for crime . Rule of thumb is don’t wondered off on your own , nor travel to dangerous places . Overall , there’s so many places to visit and money goes a long way so you will have a blast . I encouraged you to visit one day , you won’t regret it .

@@YOTTR it depends, i was in mexico and felt at times where it was unsafe, and there are your usual scammers. however mexico is a much bigger country and overall the quality of life is better than what's been shown in the video. i'll be honest though if you go with friends, it's more viable than going with family or by yourself.

I spent some time traveling alone in Tegucigalpa in 2010. No problemo. I think people just like danger porn and want to believe these places are anything different.

I learned long ago that if anything is happening, good or bad, it is because the state wants it that way. If it didn't, something would be done. Governments create problems, they never solve them. All over the world some politicians always gain power because of poverty and crime. The more poverty, the more power. So it'll never change then, only get worse. Instead of helping people, you do as the US politicians are doing: constantly talk about the problems but meticulously making them worse and worse instead of solving them. No way to run a society, but that's our beloved governments. Can't control people if they're free, educated and well off. Easy to control them when they're poor, hungry and desperate. So let's make them poor, hungry and desperate! Best plan ever here...What could possibly go wrong?

And on the same token, you could have just went to a nice place and avoided all the rest of the country that is bad... sure every country has good and bad places but is it worth it to go to a country and risk it? In a country like Honduras, could you truly go anywhere without a local guide? And feel safe the entire time? Any part of the USA or Canada is safe to travel without a guide except for like the ghettos of Toronto or Montreal and I mean you'd only run into those if you were walking randomly for miles or you sought them out. Sorry but Honduras is worse than USA and Canada on average, much worse. You can't take your own experience that turned out positive and say that that's the whole country. Did you have a guide, or at least a person with you like a friend who knew the country? I would be surprised if you were in the country, not on a resort, without a guide with you.

@@onelonelypickle exactly. Only a fool would believe the US and Canada are more dangerous than Honduras. You need a freaking guide to travel around, and even then, it's EXTREMELY dangerous. Anything and everything can happen in that country.

It goes to show how people all over the world are good people and it is the screwed up economic system that requires inequality and artificial scarcity in order to function - leaving so many people unnecessarily in poverty. The English teacher was very good and smart and he's right education is the way forward. One of the key things for people to know is that corruption is bred from the system of capitalism and market economics. Every country has some level of corruption because of it. Not saying that governments can't and won't help, but we have allowed our world to be ruled by the Money God even though we have the technology to provide for everyone on the planet and do it in a sustainable way. So yes, wherever you are, band together, demand more from your governments - demand universal healthcare, housing, food, clean water and renewable energy - but also know that we must transition away from capitalism/market economics because that's the self-made virus that's really killing us.

However, that aside, I'm not even advocating for socialism, I'm talking about an economic system not based on money and markets, but instead based around resource management, math and science. A system designed FOR meeting all people's needs while still being as sustainable as possible without the potential for booms and busts like capitalism and any monetary-market system is subject to. Nothing is free? Lol. Brainwashed much? Who owns the water? The trees? The air? Nobody owns that stuff. We as humans pretend we own stuff, but we don't. We think we are separate from nature but we aren't. Once we realize no one owns nature and it is at best the collective heritage of all people then we can start moving forward to a economic system that is more equitable and sustainable. It is possible. Only naysayers and regressive minds cannot believe it is possible.

The fact that Cuba has a 100% literacy rate (from World Atlas), which is higher than USA at 86%, who are almost as good as Jamaica and a low infant mortality rate at 5.8 per 1,000 births (from Info Please), better than USA and Russia. World forces don't want socialism to succeed, because it threatens their precious yet insanely destructive capitalism. US Empire especially has, for years, been involved in destroying countries that tried to implement more socialist policies. When Salvador Allende was democratically elected in the early 1970s in Chile he implemented strong worker protections, improved school and child nutrition, began national health care, increase in social housing, nationalizing the basic industry (primarily copper). The impact of these policies were huge and immediate. Many people could see a doctor for the first time in their lives. The CIA found out and called to destroy their economy and they overthrew the country and installed a dictator. So funny, why would they do that when the people in Chile were benefitting from socialist policies?

If you want to talk about just one country you can pull stats just about that country but be sure to state the positives with the negatives just to be fair. You still didn't mention where you got that quote from. I told you where I got the stats on Cuba's higher literacy rate and better infant mortality rate than US and other more capitalistic countries. I would be open to hearing about valid sources that could prove socialism didn't work for Chile and it was no fault of the US. I doubt you could find many. It is well documented the coup that took place in Chile to overthrow socialist Allende and install an undemocratic 'leader'. I don't want to be misinformed, so if you know of credible sources that say otherwise about the situation in Chile with Allende then I'd be happy to take a look at them. I hope that you can be open to new information. I am stating that I am open to sources of information that could change my current world view, but are you able to say the same for yourself? There's no shame in changing your understanding after finding out new, valid information. That's a positive process.
