Great Great and informative video. Going to Japan for an extended stay and initially I hadn’t included this in my hiking itinerary but after viewing your video I now have and absorbing as much information as I can find filling in the gaps. Don’t apologize for not having a gimbal you did a great job and many pilgrims a service. God bless.
There aren't that many options for lodging in the mountains, and basically no luxury hotels. The local community website has a pretty comprehensive listing but you need to reserve fairly far ahead of time. I stayed at Kirinosato Takahara, which you hiked past, and it was great!
Hi, thanks for the guides. I walked the Camino a couple of years ago and have been looking for a similar experience since.Ive booked a trip to do this walk in Autumn but your films suggest that using walking poles will be essential. I’ve never used them so I’d welcome your feedback please. Many thanks, Ernest
Hi Ernest. Walking poles make it much easier to walk over very rough terrain. Many people don't walk with them on the Kumano Kodo and on the Camino; but, I highly recommend them. For me, they were very easy to get used to and an added benefit is that they lessen the impact on your knees.
No, we were planing a long vacation in Japan, and I remembered that the Kumano was a sister pilgrimage of the Camino. I wanted to get a dual pilgrim certificate since we were going to me so near to the Kumano. However, I've heard of many people who are interested in the 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
This is a detailed video of our personal experience walking the Kumano, and it’s intended for those of you who want to know what it will be like. We spent three days on the Kumano Kodo, Please excuse the mispronunciations and I hope that you like the video.
