*I returned a year later - but this time including the Canal Tunnels! Please check that video out here: "Walking the Thameslink 'Canal Tunnels' & 'Core Tunnels' + briefly 'exploring' Kings Cross Thameslink" • Walking the Thameslink... *
I'm very pleased to be able to put this up on the channel and this has literally taken all of today (28th April 2019) to put together due to many rendering problems with the editing software (it doesn't like to render more than about 5 video clips at one time for some reason!) and this was filmed in the early hours of today as well, so I feel I've done quite well to get it up this evening!
This is a video that I never thought that I would get, nor believe that I'd be allowed to take either. By pure luck I was booked on a shift to do some 053 inspections (switch inspections) in the Thameslink Core tunnels (or as they are known the 'Moorgate Lines') and this meant needing to use the old tunnels from the long-gone Kings Cross York Road station site to access the required track.
This is what I was able to capture on my way down there and in the tunnels in question and it's impressive to know that they are still in situ - I knew they were beforehand, but just not to the extent of what they actually are. I was properly impressed and shocked to see this myself.
Please excuse the commentary, I'm sure I will be corrected if I said anything incorrectly. Many thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed at least just a little bit of this.
