Hi Eva and Alan. I do believe that that the new buildings on Strand are from where buildings where lost in the Blitz . And some but mostly in other parts of London buildings are put in where old roads cut across but then you can normally tell because you get new buildings opposite one an other.

As I am a stranger to London and visiting Savoy Theatre shortly, this video is very useful.

I adore the train station- it just makes me happy to look at it. I also love passing the Savoy as I love the theatre and restaurant there-wish I could have afforded the hotel for a couple nights! ;-).

Eleanor Cross A replica of the Eleanor Cross in Charing Cross station forecourt Contemporary with the Charing Cross Hotel was a replica of the Eleanor Cross in Red Mansfield stone, also designed by Edward Middleton Barry, that was erected in the station forecourt. It was based on the original Whitehall Cross built in 1291, that had been demolished in 1647 by order of Parliament. Distances in London are officially measured from the original site of the cross, now the statue of Charles I facing Whitehall, and not from this replica. The cross deteriorated over time until it was in such a vulnerable condition that it was placed on English Heritage's "Heritage At Risk Register" in 2008. A ten-month project to repair and restore the cross was completed in August 2010. This work included recreating and attaching almost 100 missing ornamental features including heraldic shields, an angel, pinnacles, crockets and finials; securing weak or fractured masonry with stainless steel pins and rods and re-attaching decorative items which had previously been removed after becoming loose.

I love the walk! Brings so many memories...Can't believe it's going to be four years since I visited London... I miss it so much! Thanks for the video, guys. (is it just me/my laptop/internet or the image changes speed constantly, going from slow to normal and jumping ahead a bit, like catching up?... it might be my connection or computer, that struggles with new HD filming...)

I also have been in The Coal Hole the night I saw "Gypsy" at the Savoy, I popped in there and thought I had left something there so I had to go back during intermission- it certainly does reek of beer-which I am not even a big fan of! Simpson's is quite well known for their steak..beef.

It would be interesting to know the names of the various architecture types of the buildings on the walk. Just saying, if its not too much trouble. Thank you for another great London tour. 🙏🏽❤️

I'm not sure, but the concrete slab sort of architecture reminds me of Brutalist architecture.

I found this walk very engaging, a little vague on facts, but like walking around with two friends, with a certain degree of knowledge, who seem to be discovering things as they go. You're obviously English, are you from London. It would be nice to know something about you.

Britain has more than 4 or 5 days of blue skies in a row, in the summertime blue skies are usually everyday without a single cloud, i expect comments like that from brainless tourists, but you sound British.
