Another great and interesting walking tour of yours. I don’t mind the long video because it’s quite interesting and a lot to see...the old town and the wet market, etc. Your tour guide has a disarming laugh and you are a funny guy too with that dry humour. I was at Xingyi Guizhou in 2019. I was impressed how clean and nice it was. We visited Wanfenglin and the nearby area. It was amazing. Anyway, cities in China has improved a lot recent years. In 2018, i went back to China and when crossing the road, drivers wouldn't stop for you even if you have a walking signal. But in 2019, it changed. Drivers must stop for pedestrian or they will get a ticket. Finally yay....I saw this happen in many cities. Hope more and more good driving practice will happen. The government has to implement penalties to enforce the rules. 300yuan penalty if you don't stop for pedestrian. It works.

So, this is old but quite nice. Part of the video reminded me of an area in my city, the market part. But as we can see on these videos you rarelly see trash on the streets or any homeless, what you'd probably see on mine.

The Chinese love to sit down and play card games, all around the world they all do the same, here in Singapore China town or any quiet place, you will see old Chinese folks playing a game of card, at home the woman will play mahjong....all the same! 😁

This is a place of Miao and Buyi minority people , but I think majority people speak same dialect that spreads in Guizhou, Yunnan and SIchuan provinces, it is somewhat similar to Mandarin.

This is a county level small city in China with less than 1 million population. Very nice. Jason, do I need to back China for retirement? I am 56, still healthy, easy for me to run 10 miles. I have pension from police job. Should I back?

Thumbs Up. Captivating video. Still can't figure out this Xingyi city. It has less than 1 million people, a tiny tiny town by China's standard. Yet so many jewelry stores in the old town. The new area looks like it could be a tier-3 city. What do people do to make a living here? "intriguing" Indeed.

Such a nice video showing the old and new urban area of Xingyi, I like the interaction between you and your gf. Because of your video, I get to know this "99 tier" city that never heard of before - did a bit of research and found that Xingyi is the capital of Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, it is a beautiful Chinese city, but definitely not 99 tier, it should be same level as Zunyi, Anshun, Bijie, Duyun, maybe a 4th tier?

Youre videos are really different from Serpentza, but as a honest man I need to view all possible sides of China before making any kind of judgement and for that I thank you for showing us these vids. What do you feel about interacting with people and possibly hearing stories etc, or maybe you dont know chinese yet? I don't know a single word except che che ni so don't see this as bashing or anything :)

@David L Loving China is also very profitable. I find it strange that there's almost no balanced perspective on China, only rigidly for or against. I have to assume a balanced perspective can't garner an audience from either side and therefore no following, money, and opportunities. The audience doesn't care about truth, they care about their chosen side 'winning' in terms of public opinion. They all blatantly ignore or distort things to rigidly support a 'China bad' or 'China good' position. Their rhetoric is flimsy and unconvincing. Overall I would say I am more sympathetic to the 'China good' crowd despite their distortions and omissions because it is true that China is portrayed unfairly and their videos are less sensationalist spiels and more just showing China.

I like these videos. So much positivity, not like in BBC news and programs. All of BBC junk is filled with fear-mongering, and judgement. Here, in "Living in China" I see simple people, nice sceneries, developing, in real sense world of China. China is the real success story of economic development. I think USA and England just envy this success and safety on streets.

The city dates back to the 3rd century. Not as old as you'd have with major Chinese cities since the area's historically on the periphery of China proper. Majority of places you visited are relatively new (built in the '90s), but the layout itself is ancient.
