My first impressions of the most Northern capital city in the world - Reykjavik, Iceland! If you've been to Iceland and can offer any recommendations for Reykjavik, leave them in the comments. #Iceland #reykjavik #visiticeland
@@tysklandsen I'm icelandic and I wouldn't necessarily say that racism specifically is getting worse here, it's xenophobia growing but that stems a lot from our government trying to cater more towards immigration and diversity than to the people and wishes of the country. There is not enough housing here for the icelandic but we keep letting anyone and everyone move here even though our economy is total shit. Icelandic people have a hard enough time trying to work and save to afford a life here so it doesn't make a lot of sense to move more people in when there isn't enough housing for the people already here. Also inflation is going through the roof here and the government basically says "tough shit"
This video makes me miss home very much. Not many people show the casual everyday vibe of the city, especially in winter. Now that I am not there, I realize how much I miss it.
We were there several years ago and drove the Ring Road 'round the entire country. Love this country so much. I hope you went on a food tour and perhaps the Golden Circle. So much to see and do. Thanks for the memories!!
Terrible idea. I'm sure that's "possible" in winter time, but the nice cabins that are everywhere in Iceland with hot tubs is the way to go when it's wet and cold
The real reason McDonalds doesn't have a location in Iceland is because during the 2008 financial crises the owners of the Icelandic franchise stopped using the McDonalds brand so they would not be required to import ingredients from Germany, which was expensive due to the Icelandic Krona being so weak. The locations still operate, selling very similiar product but under another name, Metro. Source, I worked there at the time.
This is THE BEST video of Reykjavík that i have seen. Seeing theese fimiliar places in such beauty almost made me cry of happiness and nostalgia (especially the kids singing in Hallgrimmskyrkja)
I live in iceland and before I moved I lived by the sea and saw the northern lights just outside my bedroom window^^ (sometimes everyday for a few weeks in the winter)
As an Icelander I like how your video shows a certain kind of beauty in the things we take for granted. I used to kiss my partner a lot behind the yellow lighthouse btw when we first started dating 😊
My old neighborhood, in the opening clip you can see my old school. Nice video, although to me there is nothing surreal about this, it's just another December morning.
Despite its northern location it’s much warmer than Montreal in the winter. Always happy to se you traveling, Dan! I was in South America recently, partly inspired by your videos!!
Wow! Dan, what a spectacular, fascinating walking/narrated video! I absolutely love this and I am so grateful to be able to experience Iceland along with you on your trip! Two friends visited about a year ago, although I think they were there in the summer months. I will check! I am sending them this fabulous video from your channel! I'd love to travel to Reykjavik and to other parts of Iceland! My friends totally loved their trip too! Huge gratitude! Stay safe and well! Cheers!! 🙂
I would love to visit Iceland but only to se the Aurora Borealis but as you cant really predict it its difficult to book for a specific solar event. Great walk round 2x👍
