Dharavi is a huge economic hub for Mumbai, with lots of workshops there (literally sweat-shops) where they make clothes, jeans, handbags, etc. The workers usually sleep in the workshop too.
As someone from USA, I’ve been obsessed with Indian Women’s clothing. I’ve been searching for their vibrant, beautiful clothing to buy online for awhile now. So far, I’ve only been able to find beautiful dresses on eBay!
Say what you will about Indian slums, but if anything, Dharavi is more like the Skid Row/Fashion District of Mumbai rather than a full blown ghetto. Some of the most luxurious clothing is manufactured is carefully well-crafted in those slums!
and then u look around for the shootings and crack cocaine meth alcohol murder rapes etc only to realise they are poor but are far more happier and safer

Why just go to Slum neigbourhoods there are proper areas in Mumbai with vibrant atmosphere, maybe try food dishes or something go for lunch or dinner show that
I hope you know that INDIA is the 7th largest by area too. This is not entire INDIA. This is a small place in India's Mumbai city. The main reason for the formation of this slum is housing problem as Mumbai is a peninsular region.
I have visited Little India towns in Malaysia and Singapore, and I noticed that they are kept very clean compared to those in India. I believe they are able to maintain cleanliness due to the strict regulations set by their local authorities. Even their temples are very clean! However, I wonder why India is not as clean. Can we blame the local authorities for this?
We need to blame the citizens first. Indian's should develop the habit of cleaning their surrounding. Secondly we need to blame the judiciary for not enacting strict laws on cleanliness.
