The extra rails on bridges is In order to steer the vehicle reasonably straight when derailing and to avoid damage to the bridge or the train leaving the bridge completely,
After the train went through, April was probably whining because the rails were probably still vibrating. Animals are very sensitive to ground vibrations (they react before earthquakes, too).
Well yeah I totally forgot about that. when I was a kid in the '80s and then in the '90s me and my friends used to hang around the railroad tracks in Pennsylvania period back then Conrail operated because the the railroad had went bankrupt. And sometimes if the conditions were right even before the train was near you the tracks would make this vibrating tingling sound. And I remember we used to put our ear on the tracks to see if we could hear it coming before you could even see it
That culvert was so cool (except for the spiders)! And of course April is adorable! Maybe you can look into getting hiking booties for her to help protect her paws when you’re going to these adventurous places 😊 I work as a vet assistant and dog kennel tech and we see lots of toenail issues, cut up paw pads, raw paw pads from abrasion, and dogs stepping on stuff that stabs into their feet.
Dude, I have to tell you we watch every single one of your new videos from beginning to end. I'm not really sure why, but they're the most fascinating thing for some reason and evidently, we can't get enough of them. It's like therapeutic hypnosis. I have to know though, why on earth drains and culverts? It's such a specific and odd hobby/fascination to have and I'm genuinely just curious how on earth that came to be for you. It would add so much value to my enjoyment of your videos to finally have a definitive answer to this question! All the best!
The more experience April gets being in places like this and seeing you go through it the more she should eventually will get used to it. :) It's more of a confidence thing and only being a pup they are curious and nervous at some new big stuff that looks dark and spooky. XD Especially when she gets bigger it will be better.
I actually like the older special trains. My grandfather worked for the Reading Railroad and then Conrail for a few years after the takeover. Thank you for showing the train.
5:00 Yikes! There could be a cavern under the floor of the culvert where the water disappears! 10:50 The retaining wall on the track side is incompetently repaired; the mortar and mesh applied over the stone is water tight which inhibits the flow of water through the wall and into the stream. Water is likely travelling down the earthen side of the wall and entering the stream from the bottom - which is why it hasn't been pushed over already. Should have been fixed by digging out the earth side of the wall in adding 3/4 stone back-fill. Weight of trains likely caused the initial problem.
Lil pupper going through the water is adorable as hell. 😊 Soon, she'll be using that pibble strength to pull entire clogs in one go, leaving Post and his rake to take a break by the lake and eat a slice of cake. They deserve it, for goodness sake!
Everyone's talking about the dog but all I care about is where the heck all that water is going. I wonder if there's a huge sinkhole forming beneath the culvert, I know you said there isn't one, but that water has to be going somewhere and eroding the ground it passes through. Maybe that's something you should let the people know who maintain that area, just in case. It certainly doesn't appear to be flowing as Intended. Have a good one P10.
It's a mountain and mountains always have water flowing on them, a lot of times from snow at the top melting and running down, so it's probably just draining into the ground and coming out somewhere below. /In my completely non-expert opinion. On another subject I wonder if the rock structure he finds in the woods is one of the "sighting towers" used for alignment during the railway tunnel construction: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoosac_Tunnel#Technology Almost 200 people died during construction of the tunnel... could be another aspect of creepiness: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoosac_Tunnel#Accidents
It drops off and makes a beautiful waterfall into the Deerfield River which is what the rail bridge goes over. The river is about 150ft below the bridge which offers a spectacular view of the river valley, if you can handle the height.
A culvert that doesn't flow? Trains and tunnels and hiking trails? It's time for a new set of adventures from the Post 10 and his Culvert Dog Honestly, this is getting to be documentary quality.
This wrold is a terrarium, a built, and stationary growthhouse, not a planet freely in a space! This tunnel was built by the last civilisation, not in the 1800's.
The Water might be Frezzing on the Puppy feet ? 👍🏼🇺🇸 and possible dangers for the puppy like the spiders ?👍🏼🇺🇸 Must be So Careful for yourself Post 10 & Your Puppy too 👍🏼🇺🇸. Duty of Care ? Jennifer from Australia👍🏼🇦🇺 absolutely love the videos ✔
The dog looks uncomfortable. She is only a puppy, this is to much walking. Rocks can have sharp edges and could cut her paws. This has to be uncomfortable for her.
It is not to much walking, she was held when I wan't filming and rocks in a river do not have sharp edges because the water and other rocks have warn them down
Have to agree. That first culvert was nicely made. Train sounded like it was running good. April was growing so fast. 25 pounds at 10 weeks. She going to be big. Beautiful markings on her. Awesome adventure Post. Thank you! 🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕷️🕷️🕸️🦎🐕🚂🚃🛤️🏞️🌲
Aw, jsut remember, she's still a baby, even if she weighs a lot. Just keep taking her with you, praise her when she does good, and make sure you train her well
Yep, America is a very large chunk of wild, open land. We sometimes like to think we've tamed it all, but in reality, our lands could easily support three times our population (around 1 billion). Still plenty of land left to conquer.
Those extra rails on the bridge are check rails. God forbid the train derails on the bridge they will prevent the derailed cars from wandering off the side of the bridge
Well, April has one adventurous life in front of her ! I forgot how much fun it is having a dog - I had a Jack Russell and she went with me everywhere, and she loved it. They know to trust you, and the bond is incredible. I lost her 20 years ago, and still miss her every day. Thanks for another great video - take care and have fun :-)
That's the type of dog I'm planning to own next. There's so much training I want to do with it, I'm hoping that it will channel a lot of energy away from destructive behaviors.
I think her feet hurt from walking on sharp rocks in the culvert. Water makes foot pads soft. Rocks bruise soft foot pads. My 2 cents, I could be wrong . Loved the vid. Dog is precious. Thank you post.
