The story goes that when Jools arrived and introduced himself and started talking about the show, Fats just ooked around and asked "what is he talkin bout ? Can't understand a word he's sayin !" Jools repeated himself in scrawny South London and Fats blanked again "Sorry man can't understand what you're sayin". So Jools sat down and played the intro to Blue Monday and Fats reckoned he was OK and let him stay.
I watched this video the night Fats died and was sobbing when he said to Jools “remember me” I’ve seen jools live 4 times and been to New Orleans 5 times and met his son at a pizza place.
Love fats what awesome inspiration a as a singer from the the 6o s with some successful recording God bless you for all the joy and lnfulence on my works
I think they both shared a love of playing. Jools is a great piano player but will never have the beautiful voice of Fats Domino. Great to see them together.
